5.0 out of 5 stars 3LW
I really enjoyed listening to this cd. First, I bought it for my cousin for Christmas, and we listened to it, and I ended up liking it. Then, I bought it for myself. I think 3LW did a really good job for their first album. My favorites are No More (Baby I'ma Do Right), Is You Feelin' Me, Playas Gon' Play, More Than Friends (That's Right), 'Til I Say So, Crush On You, and...

3.0 out of 5 stars Good first album, but the second was better
Thia was a good first effort for 3LW. I still listen to No More to this day. I like the Hawaiian-like intro that opens up the song. I thought they flew to Hawaii and actually recorded that part on a beach in Honolulu. But the rest of the album is good, especially Is You Feelin Me, Playas Gon Play and Ocean. The problem with this album is that it came out during the...

5.0 out of 5 stars 3LW, January 1, 2001
This review is from: 3LW (Audio CD)
I really enjoyed listening to this cd. First, I bought it for my cousin for Christmas, and we listened to it, and I ended up liking it. Then, I bought it for myself. I think 3LW did a really good job for their first album. My favorites are No More (Baby I'ma Do Right), Is You Feelin' Me, Playas Gon' Play, More Than Friends (That's Right), 'Til I Say So, Crush On You, and I Can't Take It (No More remix). I love Crush On You, it just makes you want to sing and it'll make you play it over and over again. Even the songs I didn't mention were good. Does anybody recognize the first part of #7? I could have sworn I've heard that in some older song. Anyway, just buy this. You won't be wasting your money.

4.0 out of 5 stars A Promising Debut!, December 31, 2000

This review is from: 3LW (Audio CD)
It's really weird/creepy that these girls are only, like, thirteen. When I was their age I didn't know half of the slang jam-packed into this album. Hey, I still don't! Anyways, this is really good r&b/pop music. Girl groups seem to be the trend lately and I guess that's a good thing because all the albums by those groups have been great. Here are the tracks: 1. NO MORE (BABY I'MA DO RIGHT): This is a really great "old-schoolish" song and their first single. Very infectious. 2. IS YOU FEELIN' ME: Another upbeat dance track, this one's really good as well. The group's vocals are very tight and the beat's great. 3. PLAYAS GON' PLAY: A very catchy, upbeat song! The beat is amazing and the lyrics are very funny. It's like an r&b dictionary! 4. GETTIN TOO HEAVY: This is the first ballad on the album and probably the best slow groove on the album. It has an awesome electric guitar on it which gives it a very classic feeling. 5. I'M GONNA MAKE YOU MISS ME: This is another ballad and more reminiscent of other r&b ballads of this year. Slow, but very good. 6. NOT THIS TIME: This is my favorite song on the album. It's upbeat and catchy, with a great beat. The melody is so awesome, the singing and attitude is dead on, and, gasp!, is that a bleeped out swear word?? 7. MORE THAN FRIENDS (THAT'S RIGHT): This is a cool upbeat song using a sample of the old song "Rockin' It." It's got a nice melody and is different from the other upbeat tracks on the album. 8. CURIOUS: A very age appropriate ballad, it's slow, but very heartfelt and good. 9.'TIL I SAY SO: This is a really cool upbeat dance song, and VERY catchy! It has a really funny/campy/stupid opening. 10. CRUSH ON YOU: This is an awesome, age appropriate, dance track. It's pretty nasty for these girls. They've got a lot of spunk. I feel sorry for their poor father. 11. OCEAN: This is a gospel-ish ballad, probably about God. It's okay. Some nice high notes on this one. 12. I CAN'T TAKE IT (NO MORE REMIX)(ft. NAS): This remix doesn't sound at all like the original. It's excellent on it's own as a different song altogether. Very good. The opening's very cool. ~ Lyrics included

5.0 out of 5 stars A VERY good debut!, January 2, 2001
This review is from: 3LW (Audio CD)
I was drawn to 3LW obvisouly by "No More (Baby I'ma Do Right)" But I was REALLY happily surprised that this CD is not a waste of money. There are so many good songs on this CD. I'm really into "Is You Feeling Me", "Gettin Too Heavy", "I'm Gonna Make You Miss Me", (This one's very very good)"Not This Time", "Til I Say So" (Great fast one!), "Crush On You", and "Ocean" (this one's beautiful!) I Like 8 out of 12 Songs, and that's really unusual for me. I usually only like about 4 or 5 songs on an album, even when it has over 16 tracks. So I gotta really praise 3LW for an amazing debut. It's really good!

5.0 out of 5 stars 3LW Is Guaranteed Success, December 6, 2000

After receiving some berating from some friends when I told them that I wanted to get this cd, I became a little skeptical. Usually new artists have one hit song, and then the album is garbage. I couldn't have been more wrong. I tried really hard to not compare them to Destiny's Child, but I couldn't. They are right along up there with DC, and they are not even the same age. In their own right, this album has a beautiful mix of get-you-movin' hits, and tone-it-down numbers. Their voices are unique and diverse. The high notes are hit and the raps are nice. The beats are also very good. Every song on the cd is good. There won't be any skipping songs like on all your other cds. 3LW will be here for a long time. I'm just waiting to here the announcement of their album going platinum in a few days.

4.0 out of 5 stars A Good Debut, March 10, 2001
This review is from: 3LW (Audio CD)
3LW will definately get a few more hits on this album. Imagine taking TLC, Britney Spears and Mya and putting them in a blender. That's what the CD sounds like.

1) No More - A lot of people like this song the best. However I think it was overplayed a little too much, so it went down from a great song to an ok song.

2) Is You Feelin' Me? - Sure, the title sounds stupid, but the song is great. If it's released as a single it could go big. My favorite song on the CD.

3) Playas Gon Play - Their second single. I don't really like this one because it sounds like they were trying to go ghetto. That's fine but the song sounds like something Mandy Moore would sing. Definately not a good mix.

4) Gettin Too Heavy - This song is ok. Nothing exceptional.

5) I'm Gonna Make You Miss Me - I really like this song and the meaning behind it. Tied for the 3rd best song on the CD. This could also work as a single.

6) Not This Time - Same comment as Gettin Too Heavy.

7) More Than Friends (That's Right) - Such a cool song! The opening beat is great, and the vocals are amazing. The lyrics, while cheesy at some points, show what the song is all about. It's about a girl who is a friend with a guy and wants to be his girlfriend but the guy has a girl already. Tied with I'm Gonna Make You Miss Me.

8) Curious - Yet another so-so song.

9) Til' I Say So - My 2nd favorite on the CD. It was included on the Bring It On Soundtrack, and I bought that before this CD. Til' I Say So helped me to buy this one. It's a great mid-tempo song that could work as a single.

10) Crush On You - I love this song too! It's fun and great to sing a long to!

11) Ocean - This song sounds out of place on this album. It is pretty interesting though, and it shows they have pretty good vocals.

12) No More (Remix) f/ Nas - Well, the remix sounds nothing like the original, but that's okay. It's still a great song. Nas's raps are pretty good, and the chorus gets stuck in your head.

So, in closing, great CD. However it would work even better if there was less filler and more of the awesome songs we have come to expect from 3LW.

5.0 out of 5 stars A great debut from 3LW!, July 16, 2002
This review is from: 3LW (Audio CD)
I got this CD a LONG time ago, and I listened to it once or twice, and I thought "Okay, this is alright, but some of the songs are kinda cheesy". Well I've for some reason started listening to it more, and I don't think how I used to. I think this cd is really great, I love all the songs. The producers and mixers did a great job on all the songs, the rythms and beats are just so fun and nicely done, you just wanna sing along or tap your feet. No More (Baby I'ma Do Right) is their debut single, and I think everyone knows this one, and it's really good, it's got a positive message. Is You Feelin' Me was said to be their 2nd single, but it was never released...anyways, this song has one of the best beats, and the lyrics, you can really relate to them. Playas Gon' Play, well, most people know this one too, because it was their 2nd single, and their last from this album. It's really got a good message, and they put it exactly like it is, this song is one of my favorites. Gettin' Too Heavy has to be the best song of this CD! Guys and girls can relate to this song, it talks about being in a relationship, and the other person is pressuring you alot, it's a very good song with a great rythm. I'm Gonna Make You Miss Me, I'm listening to it now, and is another great uptempo ballad that is well written and everything. The album is still playing out smoothly! Not This Time is another one of my favorites, because it's about waking up, and saying you're not gonna be lied to again. I absolutely LOVE the rythm and beat in this one!!!! More Than Friends (That's Right) has to be the one song that EVERYONE can relate too, it's about being friends with someone for a long time, but then you see something in them, and you start to like them for more than a friend. Curious is a song that every TEEN can relate to, it's got a great beat, and again, the lyrics are great. 'Til I Say So is also like Gettin' Too Heavy, except it's uptempo, it's about telling someone to slow it down. Crush On You is a song that girls can relate, it's about doing things behind your dad's back. Haha. Ocean has to be one the most meaningful song on this album, the lyrics are very true and real. I love this song. The last track on the album is I Can't Take It (No More Remix) (Featuring Nas), and it's not just a normal remix, it has new vocals, and Nas' raps are a great addition. This is just as good as the original version, if not better. So overall, I really enjoyed listening to this album, you can just lay down and let it play, and you'll never wanna turn it off, you'll never get tired of it. This is what makes R&B one of my favorite music genres. 3LW are not just another R&B group, and they proved that with this debut album. I love it. Plus you get a enhanced portion when you put the CD in the computer where you can view the "No More" video, and a really good interview that will tell you everything I just did. It's a great CD, you've got great music, all the lyrics in the CD jacket, and an enhanced portion of the CD. It's as good as it gets, so check out some songs from this CD, and then buy it. Because you will love it, trust me, this is what makes music so great.

5.0 out of 5 stars 3LW's Debut, May 11, 2005
This review is from: 3LW (Audio CD)
I remember this album when I was in the 8th grade. I remember the first single,No More, which was the jam. Their music is a distinctive blend of pop,R&B and hip-hop, right on time and totally in tune with contemporary trends. Their vocal harmonies sparkle, and their rhymes flow with wit and eloquence. Their background reflects the growing diversity of their country as it enters the new century. They are street-savvy,intelligent, into new technology-the teenage girls of the new millennium.
This album has been certified Platinum. Remember, this was 2000-2001.

5.0 out of 5 stars Wow!!!, March 19, 2005
This review is from: 3LW (Audio CD)
Too be honest, I bought this cd only for thier first single "Baby I'ma do Aright" Then their second single came out "Playas gon' Play" I only listened to those singles and nothing else of the cd. Until yesterday, I decided to listen to thier whole cd and found out what I missed. The voices are amazing and the ballads are sung greatly. There is some pop songs on here to dance to. This is a must cd. There amazing singers. I just wished I listened to this a lot sooner when it came out. The rap is awsome too. I just hope they come back with a new cd and group.

3.0 out of 5 stars Good first album, but the second was better, January 23, 2005
This review is from: 3LW (Audio CD)
Thia was a good first effort for 3LW. I still listen to No More to this day. I like the Hawaiian-like intro that opens up the song. I thought they flew to Hawaii and actually recorded that part on a beach in Honolulu. But the rest of the album is good, especially Is You Feelin Me, Playas Gon Play and Ocean. The problem with this album is that it came out during the period that rival girl groups Destiny's Child and TLC were popular. So that might have taken attention away from this album. But they did go gold with this debut, probably in a slower pace, than DC in a rapid one. Also there are a few weak cuts among the strong numbers here. They don't handle some hip-hop inspired sounds on this album quite as well. But their second album, despite the riff, dismissal and replacement of one group member, was much better.

5.0 out of 5 stars 3LW HAVE ONE BLAZING ALBUM. 9/10, July 27, 2001

I am very impressed with the debute album from 3LW I think this is one of the best debute cd's from a female group in awhile, and also it has been awhile sience a female group other than Destiny's Child has had any luck scoring major singles.First off the first single "No More" is a hot hot song but it is not the best song and I am sure you all heard the blazing single "Playa's Gon Play" which is one of my favorite tracks. I also love "Gettin Too Heavy" because these girls have strong vocals and sound great.Other tracks worth listening to are "Is You Feelin Me", "Not This Time", "Til I Say So, "Ocean" and "I'm Gonna Make You Miss Me". Believe me this whole album is tight check it out for yourself and all 3 of these girls can sing , all 3 that is very rare nowadays in music groups. Well check out the self titled debute from 3LW for yourself you won't be dissapointed.
