I use this tape for my maglite flashlights. Gives a very solid grip, will be buying more for my handlebars on my bike. Even when wet this tape still offers good grip and does not peel off.

I thought this was the anti-rattle black felt tape that is used in automotive wiring.
No, this looks like the stuff I used to wrap hockey sticks with, baseball bats, etc. I still used it to tidy up some wiring in my vehicle. I would imagine this would stick better/longer than standard electrical tape. Good strong stuff.

I have black tape in my tool bag but the friction tape is perfect for wiring in cars. Easy to use and tear when dispensing. Black tape has it's place, but this is a must for automotive wiring. Price was competitive and glad Amazon had this available as I was not able to find it locally.

I've always hated using electrical tape for sealing connections or organizing wiring harnesses on my cars. Almost every brand I've tried tends to come loose in the heat, whether it's in the engine bay or under the dash in summer.

This stuff grips and never lets go! Lets you bind wires together much tighter, reducing bulk. Love it!

Sometimes the adage of "You get what you pay for" is right. In this case it was. this 3M product was expensive, but it works perfectly, much better than the plastic electrician's tape. I've used it on electrical repairs and most recently, as a wrap for the handle of a croquet mallet - excellent adhesion in both cases.

This is a very versatile cloth tape. It's great for wrapping wiring in your car. And also to muffle sounds and movement. The cloth material won't cause any scratches, but it is rough enough to prevent movement. Think very thin canvas. It's easy to tear by hand, but I'd recommend a knife or scissors for more precise cuts.

When you need friction tape, there's really no substitute. This is pretty much what I remembered from the last time I bought any (decades ago, I hate to say), but .... It seems a little less sticky-gooey. Maybe that was a "product improvement" like everyone does, huh? This is more like the bike tape you can buy at a sporting goods store or bike shop. Sticky on one side and dry on the other. The classic friction tape was very sticky on one side and sort-of sticky on the other. That stuff was ideal for keeping things where you put them. This is a bit less so, though it worked for what I needed. IMO, this is a very expensive package, by the way. I was in a hurry and couldn't find it locally so Amazon came through with very fast delivery. But next time, think I'll plan better and shop around a bit more.

Cloth friction tape should be in the toolbox of anyone who works with electrical equipment. It's excellent all-purpose protection from chafing and damaging of wires.

I work on low-voltage electrical stuff like alarm systems and telephone wiring. A good number of service calls are caused by a chafed, crushed, or damaged wire somewhere. Friction tape is my go-to product when I need an on-the-fly way to protect wiring from damage. It's great with a few layers wrapped around wiring that is near sharp metal edges or can be crushed. My most common use for it is where wiring for a door contact comes through a hole drilled in the door frame. Installers don't seem to understand that over time with the door slamming, the sharp edges of the hole will cut into the wiring and cause problems. I've also used it where wiring makes sharp bends around metal, or where someone has installed sheet metal on top of alarm wiring in a warehouse. Excellent preventative measure to prevent shorts and ground faults.

It also makes a nice wrap for wire bundles, as it won't retract and come loose.
Friction tape used to be used for electrical splices in the old knob and tube wiring, but it doesn't carry a UL rating. Use electrical tape for your splices, and cover with friction tape to keep everything neat.
