I used this 100-grit abrasive in a Porter-Cable 360VS sander to refinish severely abused oak floors. I followed up with the same product line in 150-grit. (See my review there for additional detail.) The final passes were with an orbital sander.

The floor in question was approximately 12x12 feet of oak flooring. The floor had been covered -- not by me! -- with a linoleum product that had been heavily glued in place. At the time that glue was applied, the previous occupant removed the original finish by sanding cross grain with a very coarse drum sander. So the objective was to remove the paper backing left after the linoleum was pulled up, then "find" the wood under the nasty glue, and, finally, smooth the oak itself.

Initially I used a 50-grit Gator product. It was tolerable, but slow going. I also had a lot of belts come apart at the joint. Having had some success ordering abrasives in quantity from Amazon, I went looking ... figuring "what do I have to lose?"

My 150-grit review says I like this product line due to a) good removal, b) long lasting, c) doesn't tear apart, and d) value. That certainly applies to the 100-grit product as well.

I was especially impressed with the REMOVAL aspect of this abrasive. I was getting better removal with this 100-grit belt than with the other company's 50-grit. And, no, I can't explain that. No loading, no build-up on the belt. Plus, when I did get through the gunk down to the wood, it left the wood in much better shape than did the coarser papers. With each belt, I was covering more square feet and leaving the wood in better shape than with the "other" brand.

So from my perspective, this belt really did perform as advertised ... and maybe a little better. I ordered an additional five pak today because in about two weeks, I've got another floor (albeit not nearly as ugly) that I need to refinish.

As yet, I have only used this to final sand some cedar lumber. All I can say at this time is it performed excellently. It is too early to state an opinion regarding its longevity but, after 20 boards, it showed little sign of usage at all.
