4.0 out of 5 stars Pretty good
These are pretty good. The volume control really help, but they don't really get that loud. I use them on my motorcycle, so you really have to get them in your ears pretty good to seal out the wind noise. But overall, pretty good.

3.0 out of 5 stars Don't expect longevity
I have purchased two sets of these. They work great for a couple of months, then one channel will drop off and you only get the sound in one ear, then eventually the other channel drops. I think it is partially because the wires are very thin and so whenever they catch on anything it starts to degrade the quality. I like them because they are cooler than headphones and...

I like them because they are cooler than headphones and meet the safety requirements of my company, but I hate to purchase a new pair every couple of months.

2.0 out of 5 stars Volume cuts in and out, January 22, 2012
This review is from: 3M E-A-R Buds Earbud Noise Cancelling Headphones (Sports)
I received these a couple weeks ago, and use them at work. I notice when listening to music that the volume cuts in and out randomly and at times it seems like one side (left) cuts out completely. You have to get them seated well in your ears to get the "earplug" benefits, but overall no one notices that I am wearing headphones and not earplugs. They are not a top quality ear bud, in fact you can purchase a way better quality for $20 bucks, but the yellow and blue incognito for a factory environment is well worth it.
The seller is the least expensive that I have found and their shipping speed is the fastest I have seen ever. I ordered them late in the evening on a Wednesday and had them in my hand by Saturday of the same week.

4.0 out of 5 stars Plug has been redesigned now, love the ear buds!, January 11, 2012

I have been through at least a half dozen of these ear buds in the last few years, as was mentioned in another review the wires were breaking at the plug, inside the insulation, rendering them useless. This last summer mine once again broke and I went in search of a new pair, well they were no longer available anywhere! I believe 3M stopped production and redesigned them slightly. I placed an order for a new pair and 2 months later finally received them once the seller got them in again (not their fault at all) and Iv'e noticed that the plug is no longer an angled plug, it's straight, and the wire appears to be slightly larger in diameter, possibly they are using a little larger wire now? Time will tell if they hold up better. I use them while mowing, I have a lawn service so this is 6 days a week 8 to 10 hours a day about 9 months out of the year. I much prefer the ear plug style personally, they do a really good job of blocking the super loud noise that hurts your ears. The inline volume control is very handy, use it constantly, and they are regulated to only allow a pretty low maximum volume output, unlike most ear buds, so you can't damage your hearing with them. I wouldn't have continued buying new ones after the others were breaking if I didn't like them overall. Hopefully the new design changes will mean they will last longer now! On another note I found that the newest ones no longer come with replacement tips. Thankfully I've saved all my spares from the pastm because after a couple months of my kind of use the soft plastic starts to break down and they don't block the sound very well. They obviously need to be cleaned periodically since they do get dirty.

I like the way they fit in the ear canal. But, the volume control is the best feature.
