3M E-A-R Hi Fi earplugs feature an acoustical design that reduces noise level across all frequencies without distortion or muffling. Proprietary, premolded, triple-flange earplug design inserts easily. Noise Reduction Rating (NRR): 12 dB CSA Class AL. The NRR may overestimate the hearing protection provided during typical use. 3M recommends reducing the NRR by 50 percent for estimating the amount of noise reduction provided. 3M is Leading the Advancement of Hearing Conservation.
From the Manufacturer
The 3M™ E-A-R™ Hi-Fi Earplugs, Hearing Conservation, have an acoustical design that reduces noise levels across all frequencies without distorting or muffling the sound. These earplugs provide lower attenuation than standard premolded earplugs, allowing workers to hear conversation and warning sounds more easily. The premolded, triple-flange design makes the earplugs easy to comfortably insert. The earplugs are reusable, which reduces the long term cost of buying replacement disposables. One size fits most ears to reduce the need to stock various sizes of ear protection at worksites.
These earplugs have a Noise Reduction Rating (NRR) of 12 dB, CSA Class AL. Use these earplugs for TWA noise exposures below 90 dBA. The TWA (Time Weighted Average) noise level indicates a worker's daily exposure to occupational noise over an 8 hour day, considering both the average level of noise and the time spent in each area. This measurement is used by OSHA in assessing noise exposure and determining appropriate action.
Not only is noise present in our daily routines and recreational activities, but millions of Americans work in hazardous noise on a daily basis. Estimates from the National Institutes of Health suggest that hearing loss afflicts 28 million Americans. About one third of those cases are at least partially attributable to noise. Hearing loss due to noise is almost entirely preventable by judicious use of hearing protection.
