Does well, but doesn't cut well!,

I purchased this masking product so that it would make taping and masking a breeze. I usually use a sprayer to paint, and you must protect everything from overspray.
This product does a great job at putting the tape and the plastic out at the same exact time. I don't know if I just need more experience, but I have difficulties trying to tear the plastic from the roller. I'm sure there's a trick to it, but it seems like whenever I do, I just end up with what looks like a torn apart plastic bag. To prevent this, I usually use a utility knife to just slice the plastic away. This works well, but that is the only thing wrong that I don't like about this product.

This thing is awesome! Saves me a lot of time masking. The films are strong. You do need to tape the other three edges down. I use 3M's TA20 Hand-Masker 3M TA20 Hand-Masker Tape Applicator 6.5 x 5.7 x 2.7-Inch for that...that tool is also awesome.
The cut off knife takes a little getting used to. At first it was very very frustrating. Then I did some research and looked at videos of others using it. You need to rotate the machine all the way to the back and then pull hard to the right [pretty hard] ONLY THEN will it cut the tape and the film in one go...it really does ! The plastic knife protector needs to bend backwards to expose the knife. My knife has a serrated blade [for plastic film] Once you get the hang of it...everything is cool! Changing the film does waste a little bit of film since once the tape sticks to the film....it is almost impossible to take it off. But only around 6" to 12" of film gets trashed....no big deal. The included DVD does not have any instructions on it. It has a short video which is an advertisement of this product. I am using it to paint/mask a fixer-upper townhouse. I am spraying the interior. So far I really like it.
