I have been a faithful fan of the red/black Peltor/AO Safety H10A earmuffs for a good many years, but this Peltor Ultimate 10 is even better. The Ultimate 10 has the softest cushions (definitely the best and most comfortable ones I can find) and the NRR has been bumped up by 1 to 30 NRR. Theoretically the human ear should not be able to distinguish a NRR difference of less than 3, but somehow when I put it on I can feel that the Ultimate 10 with its NRR of 30 does a better job of attenuating noises than does the H10A with its NRR of 29, and they are so affordable to boot.

In addition to wearing these earmuffs while operating loud machinery at home, I wear earmuffs in my office to block out typing and talking noises from co-workers, because without good earmuffs on my head, I find it hard to concentrate when I read or write. I don't like the feel of earplugs. It is very effective in blocking out typing sounds and female co-worker voices, but not so the deeper male voices. I am still waiting for new technology to come up with an earmuff that can effectively block out low, deep bass/baritone voices in the 80 to 350 Hz range from male co-workers. The Peltor Ultimate 10 is the best of all earmuffs currently on the market but still manages to block out only about 20 decibels in the 150 Hz range. The Peltor Ultimate 10 is the best money can buy right now in both comfort and highest NRR.

These were the first earmuffs that I bought from Amazon. I need earmuffs because I work at an automobile shop where they use loud power tools such as grinders, cutters, drilling machines, welding machines, compressors etc. They do a great job at blocking the loud noise from these machines.

I want the best possible ear protection possible (at a reasonable cost). Originally when I searched the Amazon site I found the Peltor H10A Optime 105 Over-the-Head Earmuff first. But after comparing the customer reviews I decided to buy this one. I thought since it was intended for shooting it must have a better protection than the H10A.

Some time later when I needed another pair of earmuffs I bought the Peltor H10A which is a little bit cheaper. When I compare the two I see no difference at all in their design and construction except for the color and the packaging they came with. The level of noise attenuation seems to be the same as well.

So if you need a good pair of earmuffs you can either buy this or the H10A. They're essentially the same product with different colors.

They work great for students who need peace and quiet and live with moronic neighbors or loud family. I'm studying MCATs and these helped me so much, I recommended them to all my premed friends!

Currently in med school and i moved! no more terrible neighbors just kidding they are everywhere. Heres how I prevent killing myself:
Get the hearos xtreme protection ear plugs and put these. You will not hear a thing!

I use this one at the range most often because of its high NRR rating and it sits comfortably on my ears. It's well padded and rarely leaks sound in like others. The only con is that its a bit large and sometimes interferes with a close stock weld.

I researched several pairs of headsets here on Amazon before reading the other glowing reviews of the Pelcor 97010 and deciding on this particular pair/brand. I have never bought any ear protection before, but I just recently purchased a backpack leaf blower and knew I would want something to protect my ears.

These earmuffs are very comfortable and fit nicely around my giant head! I wear a fitted size 7 7/8 hat, so I needed something that would not only protect my ears but fit my head as well. These earmuffs provide a solid seal around my ears. They do not sit on my ears, they sit around them, cupping them prefectly. They provide outstanding protection for every application I have used them for--mainly mowing the yard, blowing leaves, and running the vacuum. The adjustments for these earmuffs are very sturdy, so once you adjust them to your size and fit, they will stay that way.

My only complaint--which is a minor one--is that I happened to drop them on the driveway once and when I picked them up there was a small divet about the size of a pea that was taken out of them. So the plastic outer shell is not quite as durable as I would like. But then again, I bought them to protect my ears and not to take them outside and spike them on the driveway. For the money and the protection it offers, this set of earmuffs is really hard to beat.

I bought these for my wife while I use my treadmill. The treadmill produces a whine, which greatly disturbed my wife while she was on the computer or reading. This hearing protector blocks virtually all the noise from the treadmill. They are very comfortable and can be adjusted to fit extremely well! They are well padded and not excessively heavy! Strongly recommend!

This review is purposely for people who are looking to buy this to study/read. I have not tried these at the shooting range yet, and will give it a better rating if it works well there.

PRO: I specifically bought these so I could study and read without being bothered by my loud computer, noisy roommates, thumping sounds from the apt above me, and the bass from my roommate's music. For blocking out those noises I give it a 5/5. It blocks out all sound and I can read in peace.

CON: I give it a 4 because it is so uncomfortable. If you have a medium sized head it feels like someone is squeezing your head. And after 30 minutes the side of your head/ears start to hurt pretty bad. Even though I have it pulled out on the widest setting.

Another bad thing is adjusting it to fit your head. It is made out of a cheap metal and plastic which you slide up and down for each ear muff separately. I don't know if it's just mine but it's hard to slide up and down and I feel like I'm going to break it.

Other thoughts: It feels like your under water when you wear it. For the price, I think it was well worth trying, but I would not buy this one again.
