5.0 out of 5 stars a comfortable mousing experience
I have owned at least 6 different kinds of mouse pads. This one is by far the best I've used. Have you ever slid the mouse along a pad and had the cursor stand still? This is caused by dust accumulating in the fabric. 3M's Precise Mousing Surface feels like finely grooved plastic, and true to 3M's word on the packaging, it has never clogged up. 1.0 out of 5 stars Not comfortable and too expensive for what you get
This gel mousepad with wristrest is pretty hard on the wrist, you really have to press hard to get it to conform to the shape of your wrist, is isn't very comfortable. The gel is made from plastic polymers and it has an odour of plastic, it is not washable so it gets dirty and stays dirty. You can't replace the gel packs if it gets a leak. There are better mousepads with...

5.0 out of 5 stars a comfortable mousing experience, November 19, 2000

I have owned at least 6 different kinds of mouse pads. This one is by far the best I've used. Have you ever slid the mouse along a pad and had the cursor stand still? This is caused by dust accumulating in the fabric. 3M's Precise Mousing Surface feels like finely grooved plastic, and true to 3M's word on the packaging, it has never clogged up. I've used mine for almost a year. Not only that, the packaging says that you can set your mouse pointer speed (from within the control panel) to fast, and the mouse will respond. I've done that, and I barely have to move my hand to get the cursor to move where I want. Someone else used my computer a couple of times. She had never used anything other than the standard mouse pad, with standard mouse pointer speed settings. She could not believe the sensitivity of my setup. Besides the features of the Precise Mousing Surface, the wrist rest has made my work at my computer much, much more comfortable. I think I was on the verge of developing carpal tunnel syndrome. But now my hand and wrist are fine. I'm doing more work on my computer than ever before, and feeling physically comfortable while doing it. If this mouse pad ever wears out (already it's performed longer than others I've owned), I will replace it with another 3M Precise Mousing Surface with wrist rest.

5.0 out of 5 stars Bought it in the early stages of CTS, August 22, 2004

I bought this pad 4 years ago, along with the keyboard rest, and it still helps me up to today. I am a programmer, and after several months of work, my wrists began hurting me. The pain was so unbearable that I started to do exercises and visit my doctor. There was nothing much I could do. When I consulted other programmers they had similar wrist problems. Before it went any further I checked into ergonomics at 3M's website, and came across this mouse pad. I immediately went in to a store and bought it. I'm still programming now 4 years later, and the pain has not returned in such a bad way. I see one reviewer saying that the gel doesn't conform to your wrist. It's not supposed to, it's supposed to elevate your wrist to the same level as the device you're using and create a cushioned surface to rest it. If it conformed to your wrist it won't be doing its job. I've cleaned mine several times, and it still looks new. The only problem I would say, is that the precision mousing surface needs cleaning a couple times a year with a good cleaner to remove all dirt debris which can affect your mousing experience.

Just for the fact that it can save your wrists, I'd recommend this mousepad and the corresponding wrist rest for the keyboard.

5.0 out of 5 stars Very effective product !, April 23, 2003
This review is from: 3M Precise Mousing Surface with 3M Gel Wrist Rest Blue Water Design 8.71 in x 9.21 in (Personal Computers)
My wrist had developed tendonitus from all the mousing I do all day at work. This 3M product is awesome. My wrist is perfectly fine now. It didn't take long for my wrist to heal and it never feels strained anymore. The wrist rest is very comfortable to use all day, day after day. I highly recommend this product to anyone who's wrist is sore/painful from mousing.

This item has a comfortable wrist rest, the surface is easy to clean, and the egonomic designs are great!

Unlike the 3-buck mouse pads I purchased earlier, this mouse pad has a wrist rest positioned at the right altitude, making a more intact fit with the curve of your wrist.

I bought this mouse pad because the one I use to own is a cheap 5-dollar rip-off with a poorly designed wrist rest. After almost 40 hours of straight coding and designing on my computer, it developed this unbearable tension in my right palm and wrist.

Even though it's kind of costy, I still highly recommend this item. You may think that all gel wrist rest mouse pads are the same, let me tell you this, no they're not. A poorly designed mouse pad can lead to serious wrist injuries, which is going to cost you more later.

The gel wrist-pad is very comfortable. The mousepad has a very nice covering to prevent it from getting dirty or greasy easily, BUT the mousepad could have had at least another inch added to it for a little more scrolling space!

4.0 out of 5 stars Comfortable, but small, March 22, 2005

As far as comfort goes, the gel rest attached this mouse pad can't be beat. The fabric and the gel wrapped in it make for a soothing writst rest that will work better than any of the hard rubbery mouse rests out there. I've used those, and they don't compare to the comfort of the gel pad.

I did find the size of the mousing surface to be too small. Perhaps I could have turned up the sensitivity of the mouse even a bit more, however, I already have the sensitivity cranked up, probably 3/4 of the way. I would run off the edge of the pad and have to pick the mouse up to put in back on the mouse pad while working. If the surface was slightly bigger, this would have earned a 5-star rating from me.

I bought this mouse pad and I am very satisfied with it. The wrist support is very firm and really reduces the stress in my hand. The bottom surface is anti-slipping and the pad remains solidly in place. The mouse surface does a nice job with this logitech optical mouse (product 931643-0403); the mouse tracks without any glitch. The size also appears to be perfect; I use a 17 inch monitor and I do not run out of pad space. The only complaint that I have is that I just discovered that this pad comes in other colors than the blue displayed on this page when my product arrived and I looked at the enclosed cartoon. In case you did not like this blue one: MW311LE is black, MW311MX is black/gray and MW311BH has a beach theme on it (all available on Amazon). For aesthetic reasons, I would have preferred the black one, but I am not returning mine.

5.0 out of 5 stars Got it for CTS and it really does help, May 8, 2007
This review is from: 3M Precise Mousing Surface with 3M Gel Wrist Rest Blue Water Design 8.71 in x 9.21 in (Personal Computers)
I initially got a wrist rest about 20 years ago when I was diagnosed with CTS in my right wrist. Since I'm a lefty, mousing seemed to be the biggest stress on my right hand. Having my wrist at the proper angle made a big difference almost immediately. Though I have moved on from the old trackball mouse to an optical mouse, I still use this mousepad with the wrist rest. The gel rest is very comfortable and easily positioned to give your wrist proper support. The surface is probably meant for a trackball style mouse, but it works better for me than my slick wood desktop at keeping the mouse under control.

4.0 out of 5 stars The best I've had, September 29, 2006
By
This review is from: 3M Precise Mousing Surface with 3M Gel Wrist Rest Blue Water Design 8.71 in x 9.21 in (Personal Computers)
Pros:
- large mousing surface, I don't "run out" even on a 2560px wide desktop
- gel pad has just the right height for me
- the precision surface can be removed and the underlying pad be used
- very little friction when moving wrist across the pad

Cons:
- precision mouse surface is a bit noisy, although the base pad is not
- precision mouse surface has post-it type glue
- chemical smell from close range
