Of all the mouse pads I've seen and tried, 3M makes the best. They're super-high resolution, due to the surface (for old style ball mice), and have an excellent pattern for optical mice. What really sells me on these are two things: the smooth easy way that mice slide across the 3M mouse pad surface on their Teflon pads, and the low profile of the pad. Since this pad is super-thin, it doesn't raise the mouse to an uncomfortable (or anti-ergonomic) height. So you hardly notice you're using a "mouse pad." The backing surface helps it stay put on most work spaces. And best of all - the small, thin size makes it ideal to take along with a wireless notebook mouse. It carries my highest recommendation. And the price is good, too.

I remember having one of these when they first came out. It was a nice mouse pad, with a nice, grippy back side that stuck to the desk well.

These new one's are horrible!

The back of the pad has NO gripping power whatsoever. When you try to move the mouse on the pad the pad simply slides all over the desk. The grip between the mouse and the pad is far greater than the grip between the pad and the desk.

Stay away. It's quite useless.

If you haven't noticed it's a textured mouse pad, meaning the top surface isn't smooth. It works pretty well with my optical mouse and handles routine pc stuff fine. I wanted to use it to improve my perfomance on some games, but it hasn't been optimal for that use. It's a little too small for gaming and it's backing doesn't hold it in place, so it slides around on my desk unless I anchor it in place with something heavy.

Does not work at all with the Apple Wireless Optical Mighty Mouse (I know, unbelievable that a mouse pad does not work, how hard is it???).

I returned it.

The mouse pad works great with our optical mouses. Everyone in the office likes them.

I bought this, since I had it's predecessor, and the sticky backing got "unsticky". I was a little disappointed, since it was not as compact (my older one was smaller and rectangular), and could not stick to the underside of my laptop. I am a mobile on-site Apple IT Consultant, and sometimes I go to clients where they have desks and surfaces that need a mouse pad, like glass. If anyone finds something like what I'm asking, please email macnrg@mac.com.

I think I'm going to try the WOW pad.

I was having problems with my cursor moving randomly around the screen, and I realized that with an optical mouse I would need a more precise mouse pad surface than the old neoprene one I had. This was the best price I found on this type of mouse pad. It's very thin, so I laid it on top of the old mouse pad, which also keeps it in place better since the back doesn't seem to have a lot of grip. The 3M surface is easier to keep clean than the neoprene, and my cursor is no longer "possessed".

I bought this so that I could use my mice on a glass surface; but the pad just ended up kind or sliding around with the mouse and my hand as one unit. Also the pad surface seems to be made with tiny groves that can be irritating if you don't like the feel.

I had been using a Dell Mouse pad since before Y2K till it got bent and I still used it another month till my housekeeper misplaced it. I needed one fast I was now using a few sheets of paper, if worked but with some friction and was laborious.I have an IMAC so I have an optical mouse.I came to Amazon found this 3M Precise optical mouse pad and was ready to order with 1-Click when I started reading the reviews, now I had second and even third thoughts about A ted dollar product I desperately needed, and from a great company I have known to be on the cutting edge making quality products for decades.
I took a chance and got this Fantastic, top quality pad and just love it.It does not slide around my desk and the surface is textured so as to work with the optical mouse as well as and older trackball mouse yet is comfortable to the fingers sliding over it. The best ten bucks I've spent in a while.

My old mouse pad was wearing thin. Since I do a lot of Photoshopping, I needed something that would work well with my new laser mouse. This pad was cheap to buy but excellent to use. I was pleasantly surprised to see how well my new mouse worked with this new pad. I can recommend it highly. -Paul
