5.0 out of 5 stars Best mouse pad ever, at an unbeatable price.
Of all the mouse pads I've seen and tried, 3M makes the best. They're super-high resolution, due to the surface (for old style ball mice), and have an excellent pattern for optical mice. What really sells me on these are two things: the smooth easy way that mice slide across the 3M mouse pad surface on their Teflon pads, and the low profile of the pad. Since this pad is...

2.0 out of 5 stars A flimsy disappointment
So many have said they love this pad, I must start by saying my complaints might be unique to my set-up. So, on to my gripes:

1) I expected the pad to be much more substantial than it is, it's very flimsy... really thin and flexible, and easily scratched and bent; this really upset me, since I had chosen this pad over another pad which had a sturdy metal back...

Since this pad is super-thin, it doesn't raise the mouse to an uncomfortable (or anti-ergonomic) height. So you hardly notice you're using a "mouse pad." The backing surface helps it stay put on most work spaces. And best of all - the small, thin size makes it ideal to take along with a wireless notebook mouse. It carries my highest recommendation. And the price is good, too.

I have used this mousepad since I discovered it about 7 years ago. The features mentioned in the other review are key - both the texture of the surface, as well as the no-skid backing. Perhaps one of the best features is the fact that it is washable, which has provided me with years of trouble free use. The design is also pretty attractive and does work well with optical mice.

5.0 out of 5 stars Just a great mouse pad - oh I mean "surface", September 21, 2009

I bought one of these way back in 1997 and lost it somewhere along the line. I just got a new desk with a glass top and the optical mouse doesn't like that. I was so happy to find the ol' reliable and low profile 3M mousing surface. $10 might seem a little steep at first, but I think its really worth it. Love that it was available in silver which matches stuff on my desk! My sniper shots in some of my computer games are more accurate now!!!

I really like these mouse pads, I have one for every computer I have. They are really thin and the mouse moves really quickly with them, which is a feature I like. The only thing that I don't like is after time, they don't grip onto the desk anymore. The one I use at work is over a year old and I have to use a little piece of tape to keep it from moving.

So many have said they love this pad, I must start by saying my complaints might be unique to my set-up. So, on to my gripes:

1) I expected the pad to be much more substantial than it is, it's very flimsy... really thin and flexible, and easily scratched and bent; this really upset me, since I had chosen this pad over another pad which had a sturdy metal back suitable for holding in my lap; and
2) I have a Logitech Lasermouse which never gave me any trouble until I started using this pad, but now, with this pad, my mouse-pointer has a tendency to jump or skip all over the screen like crazy at times... I've checked, and the cause isn't a dirty mouse, so I don't know why it acts up only part of the time.

The bottom line, at least for me, is I wish I hadn't bought this pad... it's pretty though.

5.0 out of 5 stars The best mousing surface available, March 23, 2009

This review is from: 3M Precise Mousing Surface with advanced micro-groove surface technology. 58 sq in, Blue Water Design (Electronics)
For modern optical mouses this surface is the best and very precise.
A big advantage is the very minimal thickness so that when mousing around the lower edge you mouse does not get stuck in the upward move by a thick edge.

4.0 out of 5 stars Cool Mouse Pad, September 15, 2008

I really love this mouse pad. It is almost perfectly flat on the desk and doesn't shift around while I'm using it. It almost seems too thin, but it really works great. It was a toss up - throw out my mouse that was starting to frustrate me, or try using a decent mouse pad. This mouse pad cured a lot of my mouse issues.

4.0 out of 5 stars Satisfied, July 14, 2008

Really pretty, works as expected. Only downside is if you're picky about things looking neat- surface tends to get scratched easily.

4.0 out of 5 stars Effective for optical mice, September 16, 2007

At first I thought my optical mouse needed replacing but it turns out I had just worn out the veneer on my cheap Ikea desk. I got this mouse pad and mouse functionality returned to normal. Save your desk and get one of these to protect your surface and improve mouse function. I only wish they made these without these dorky designs.

2.0 out of 5 stars Thin /= quality, February 11, 2009

I know what you're up too. You're looking for a mousepad made for optic mice. Well, the sad truth is that you'll never really get much better than a cheap foam surface pad, or maybe just the surface of your desk.

What makes the heavy soft pads better than this one supposedly made specifically for optic mice, is that the weight of the pad keeps it firmly in place. This pad is skinny and shifts on your desk frequently. This is not favorable for any application, particularly gaming. Also, the pad tends to warp and become uneven. Pads with grooves in them will cause misreadings in the optics sensors causing your pointer to skip around the screen.

Trust me, cheap, 3 dollar pads are better than this.
