I have used this in the Navy to waterproof electrical connections to radar and comm. gear up on the mast. Would come back 6 months later to check connection and it was always dry. Note we would tape many rounds around the electrical connection with electrical tape to help seal connection (in-case scotchkote would fail...it never did) then we coat the electrical tape with few coats of Scotchkote (Caution just don't get any on your clothes).

I have used this stuff for electrical repairs for 35+ years. As an old work electrician it has come in handy for old frayed rubber and cotton pigtails. I have used it for underground connections and never had a problem. It is an extraordinarily tenacious and penetrating compound and it seems not to degrade whatsoever over time.

Just don't let the can fall on it's side. The contents will find their way through the lid and stick the can to whatever it's sitting on. You will have an almost impossible time crowbarring the can off it's shelf. I have never gone through a complete can because of this; I wind up buying a new can.

This is one of the best products on the planet.

This may be an off-label use for 3M Scotchkote, but I use this stuff when I mount a scope on a rifle. Basically, this stuff is a sort of high-powered rubber cement as it is flexible and sturdy. I dab a little onto the scope rings and then position the scope in the rings. Once the rings are tightened, that scope isn't going anywhere, no matter how hard you bump it. And the best part is, if you decide to remove the scope later, the Scotchkote just peels right off without any damage to the finish.
