A band to watch.,

If I had to compare this band I would say they are a as if chiodos and forever the sickest kids were one band. While the whole electric thing seems to be the new thing there sound sounds fresh and somewhat original. They actually sound like a lot of bands but blend it all together.
But there strength lies is the ability to do something awesome in every song. I'm not sure how to explain it but every song just has something memorable in it. Whether its a chorus, or a cool keyboard part, to the point were every song had something were I was like thats awesome.

A screamo/electronica hybrid along the lines of Breathe Carolina, Innerpartysystem, The Medic Droid, and Rediscover but with a stronger screamo leaning. If you like any of these bands then this is a must listen.

Elegantly Composed,

I See Stars creates a very smooth and collected sound, which manages to further their introspective and powerful lyrics. While this post-hardcore band is at the lighter end of the "metal" genre, offering a good introduction for newbies, this band still delivers the rawness, strength of emotion, and storytelling that often characterizes more hardcore metal. The sweet and smooth sound of the band's lead singer blends perfectly with the well-controlled harshness of the band's screamer. Some listeners will relate the sleek electronic elegance of the sound and the choruses which offer catchy, witty, and poetic phrases, to the lyrics and composition of Panic! At The Disco's "A Fever You Can't Sweat Out," despite the obvious genre difference. The tracks each offer a distinctive sound, and in the case of "Save the Cheerleader, Save the World", three. A very enjoyable listen, with the well-written lyrics, strong composition, and the individuality of each track to keep it interesting and engaging. Definitely a strong entry for a band, especially in this genre overloaded with angry and talentless, though bold, youths; if the first album is this good, I'm really looking forward to seeing what they produce in the future!

Great melodic/screamo-type band. Heavy on the Cher-type mechanically harmonized vocals, but the songs are catchy and the screaming stuff is pretty sick. If you like stuff from Of Machines, We Came as Romans, etc., you'll dig this band.

If you like bands like Attack Attack! and I Set My Friends on Fire, you'll probably like these guys. I've searched high and low for bands that can mix screaming vocals with synth-like and clean vocals, and these guys do it right. Although they do more clean than scream, they still do it very well. Worth a listen and purchase.

Wow! I decided to listen, because they supposedly sound like some bands that I listen to. Usually that means they try and fail. This band blew me away on first listen. So talented and very good at mixing different styles of music together. I like anything from Atreyu and Underoath to Anberlin and New Found Glory. This band quickly jumped into my favorite artists and for as young as they are, they will keep making amazing music for years to come. To listen to the best of what they bring, try "Where The Sidewalk Ends" and "Comfortably Confused".

ahahaha I didn't even know this genre of music even existed! Maybe there are better bands out there but I'm falling in love with this. It combines some of the most annoying, over-the-top attributes of two of my favorite but completely incompatible styles of music and spits them out into an ecstasy of confusion. Can't wait til the roommates hear it and lose all hope for me. Love it, love it, love it! It's like Bullet for My Valentine and Daft Punk had a baby.

This album is decent. I bought it after seeing them live at Warped Tour and enjoying their set. This album has a few problems that ruin it for me, though.
1) Lack of hooks. There just really aren't that many hooks on the album. There are no parts where I say to myself "wow, this is awesome." Everything is just...mediocre at best and is nothing compared to all the other acts that are out there. Honestly, I'm not exactly sure how this band has gotten this popular. 2) Crappy mixing. The vocals are buried in the mix. It's hard to hear the vocals without turning the CD up loud, but then your ears will be shot. Additionally, the vocoder that the singer often uses makes his voice muttled often and you just cannot understand what he is saying. It's hard to become emotionally tied to a song when you don't even know what is being talked about. 3) Terrible genre blending. There is singing and there is screaming, but there are no parts where the two are used well together. The singer sings for a while, then the screamer screams some, but the vocals are never used interchangeably. At times, it sounds like two different bands fighting with each other. 4) Short songs. The CD only has 10 tracks and there are several that are under 3 minutes long. One is actually like a minute and a half. This is wimpy, in my opinion. The CD in its entirety is around 30 minutes long. It goes by too fast, and there just isn't enough to be desired. It's an okay listen if you just want something to listen to, but there are so many better bands out there. Don't expect anything ground breaking or awesome and you may enjoy this CD more than me. If you are a fan of post-hardcore and are looking to listen to a well-done, exciting album, pick up a copy of Norma Jean's "Meridional." It far surpasses this gimmicky half-hearted effort. |
