Product Description

This 480 page, full-color, hard-cover bound book takes you through the challenge of learning one of the most complex computer programs ever created, by way of easy-to-follow tutorials and time tested production techniques. It specifically focuses on those parts of the program you need to know to be productive in the industry today. The intent is not to show you every possible way to accomplish a task, but rather some of the fastest and most efficient ways. 3ds Max is a large and complex application - but by learning just the features that apply to visualization, and specifically the ones that really work best, you'll be learning everything you need to know to get ahead in the industry in the shortest possible time. Included at the end of the book is a large gallery of 3D visualizations by some of the top artists in the field, along with their best advice for beginners trying to advance in the industry. Special discounts from leading industry vendors and valuable downloadable content is also available to readers. Support files are available in release 9 and 2008. For additional information regarding this and other training material, visit the 3DATS website.

5.0 out of 5 stars Outstanding text, January 5, 2009
By K. T. McPeek (Atlanta, GA) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
I am a professor at a university in Illinois and use this book as a required text for a 3D visualization course that I teach. I have found this book to be well suited for all users from novice to expert. The authors have taken great care to explain concepts thoroughly and illustrations are aplenty. I recommend this text for both personal and classroom use without reservation.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great book to learn 3Dmax., April 1, 2009
By ANNE "Annie" (Bedfordshire, United Kingdom) - See all my reviews
I brought this book for my daughter who was only taught a few lessons of 3Dmax in her first year at Uni in England. She wanted to do a very complex 3D Interactive Touchscreen Guide for her major project in her last year. I hunted high and low to find books to help her and came across this book and web page. She has told me that it is the only book she has needed to learn 3Dmax, as it tells her everything she needs to know in a very thorough way. It's so good that I have now ordered the other two books to go with it! I don't know what she would have done without it! It's the only book that explains all the tools and how you use them. She has other books on 3Dmax but none have helped her as much as this one.

5.0 out of 5 stars A 3ds Max User Must-Have!, December 4, 2008
By D. R. Black (New York, NY) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
This is a great book for anyone using 3ds max. I have gone through this book from cover to cover and it is, simply, the most imformative and educational tool with regard to 3ds Max that I have come across.

I specialize in Architectural Visualization and this book covers everything necessary to complete my tasks.

Although I hava a good knowledge of Max, I always find a new tip or trick that I hadn't thought of to get the job done more efficiently. That being said, I consistently go back to the book as a reference guide.

It covers everything you need to know regarding modeling, rendering, lighting, and materials.

You won't go wrong if you buy this book.
