Editorial Reviews

Attention Earthlings: It is hereby decreed by intergalactic order of The Big Giant Head – and a unanimous vote by the show’s cast and creators – that these are The Most Hilarious Episodes In The Universe, Really! In the now-classic First Episode (aka "Brains And Eggs"), the Solomons discover that humans can produce feelings when Dick falls for his office mate Mary Albright. The aliens realize they have no roots in "Dick Like Me", and their yearning to fit in sends Dick on an anthropological encounter with Italians. The Solomons decide to cheat the IRS in "Dick And Taxes", leading to a terrifying audit, some outrageous confessions and Sally’s not-so-failed home business. And when Dick wrecks the family car in "The Fifth Solomon", the aliens experience the pain of grief and the price of auto insurance. Resistance is futile: The Most Hilarious Episodes In The Universe are here

5.0 out of 5 stars Hilarious!, April 15, 2007

Gotta love those aliens! I could not stop laughing. If you are a fan of the series (or have never seen it), this is a great buy. Just enough to give you a taste if you have never watched it or just enough if you are like me and miss the show. I especially loved the two episodes about taxes and insurance - brilliant!

This review is from: 3rd Rock from the Sun: The Best Episodes in the Universe, Really (DVD)
I first discovered 3rd Rock while living in Spain. I'd been there for almost twenty years and great American series came piecemeal but also commercial free. The first time this particular gem caught my eye, probably some time during the second season, I was seduced. In Spain it came on Monday through Friday, after siesta time, at 5 pm so it also became somewhat addictive especially when the episodes began to take on something of a story line. While this four piece dvd is delightful, it serves more as a good intro to what is a nearly flawless series with the four best almost impossible to rate. How can you leave out any episode that includes William Shatner, whom I had never thought of, until then, as anything but commanding and dignified. Even more of an anomalie was John Lithgow, who up until this first sighting had always struck me as the classic serious actor with the grace a distinguished theatre career imparts on any actor. Watching Third Rock shinnanigans was sheer joy. So, yes, these are four great pieces. But only if you've never watched at least one season. Buy it if you need convincing. But I would recommend going for an entire season dvd.

5.0 out of 5 stars 3rd Rock From the Sun-Best Episodes, August 9, 2009

My husband and I followed the entire seasons of 3rd Rock. This brief (5 episodes) is great. I bought it as a birthday present as we have not recorded any. If you are not familiar with 3rd Rock, this is a good entree.

Highly recommended.
