The lens or viewing area is 5 inches. The total diameter is 5.5 inches. The magnification is less than 2X. The glass is of excellent quality. It's too bad it's advertised as 3X. This deception cheapens what is otherwise a very good product. DonD, West Plains, MO

Do NOT Buy!!!!
Complained to seller that magnification was nOT 3X -- it is 2X at best. They responded that box said it was 3X and they do not check the cliams. Made in China. Also very HEAVY -- not easy to use.

i am a physician and i use magnifiers to look at lesions on the skin. My big complaint is that the glass is blurry. i tried to clean it multiple times before i realized that it was polished poorly.
to make matters worse they are extremely heavy. do not buy this product. the saying you get what you pay for is true. i bought these because they were less expensive, they are terrible.

Nice wide view lens at a reasonable cost.,

I bought this product in order to view some of my smaller print books and study bibles as I am getting to that age where it becomes difficult to read smaller font.
With a smaller viewing area it seems more difficult to follow the flow of words on paper, but this 5 1/2" round lens definitely helps there. The only downsides is the heaviness of the lens, which may be a problem for some, and the rubber of the comfort grip has a bit of a petroleum smell. (I put a bit of scented baby powder on my hands, and rubbed it across the grip to solve the latter problem.) All in all a great product for the cost.

Big Enough, But Weak,

Do not buy this product if you need something to read small print. The size is perfect but the magnification is very weak. I am extremely disappointed. I have a 2" magnifier that is so much more powerful. I wear reading glasses and I can read small print without them using the small 2" magnifier. I can't say the same for this 5-1/2 magnifier. Even with my glasses, the print is extremely hard to read. It might as well be window glass. Do not purchase. Also, the box it came in did not have any packing material and was split down one side. All in all, I think I am going to return this product.

Very heavy.
Poor magnification. Cushioned handle slips back and forth and feels as if it may come off. No protective storage for large glass surface.

Chinese mag glass in need of glue,
By
This review is from: 5" 3x MAGNIFIER optical tool - MAP & NEWSPAPER (Misc.)
The item arrived in mangled packaging state. When I took the mag glass out of its box, the glass itself nearly fell to the floor as the securing plastic ring fell out as well.
I had to use superglue to secure the glass retention ring in place. It would have been nice to have a pouch for the unit. Isn't there anything that is made in USA these days? No, I suppose there isn't, just like UK and everywhere else. Shame that. I suppose for the price it's reasonable, but I'd rather pay a bit more for quality product, this is the usual Chinese crap.

I purchased this gift for an elderly relative who is having problems reading some smaller print on everyday items. This magnifier does the job admirably. It is large enough to enable the reading of books - or any other item.
Our one complaint is the rubber handle. It does not feel like it is securely mounted, and gives the impression it will fall off soon. This does not take away from the functionality of this lens, but kept me from giving the product 5 stars.

The item arrived broken. But it is still functional and it was a gift. Frustrated that packing slip had no way to contact seller.
