5.0 out of 5 stars Impressive Entry into the Music World! June 22, 1998
By A Customer
Format:Audio CD
The first time I heard these gentlemen sing together they were members of the Northside Highschool Tour Show. The audience was very impressed by the professionalism and wonderful sound of these then 15 year olds. I knew that someday I would be able to buy their CD. Their debut album has surpassed my expectations. It is a total package, vocal, writing and arangements. Even the photographs were an added bonus to this true "R&B" experience. I encourage everyone to give 4.0 a listen.

5.0 out of 5 stars 4.0 has returned to fundamental R&B Music April 22, 1999
By A Customer
Format:Audio CD
The album is HYPE!!!! From the there popular hit song "Have aLittle Mercy" produced by Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis (Janet Jackson, Mint Condition, and Sounds of Blackness); to the sentimental "Just A Little" produced by Tony Rich. 4.0 have delivered an album complete with rich harmonies and slamming production. If you pick up this album, you won't be sorry!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Sounds Like Motown September 4, 2006
By Newes
Format:Audio CD
I'll never think any group has or will ever be better than Boyz II Men when they were in their peak (Cooleyhighharmoney, II, Evolution), but 4.0 comes real close in terms of vocals and arrangement quality. An almost uncanny mixture of Motown and Babyface stylistic features sets this group apart from all the others. Smooth to the last drop and very well written songs give this cd a more mature sound. Most songs produced and arranged by Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis, and Perri "Pebbles" Reid (on her record label, Savvy, which ended shortly after). Other songs even produced by Marc Nelson, Alexander Richbourg, and Tony Rich, among others. The best track on this album is Oh Baby, also from the Money Train soundtrack. Harmony is what good singing is all about...and this cd certainly shows it off.

5.0 out of 5 stars 4.0 release their excellent first and only album March 7, 2013
Format:Audio CD
Jimmy Jam & Terry Lewis' A&M distributed label Perspective Records has released great albums- even if the sales didn't match the acclaim from time to time. Within a decade, the label brought to everyone's attention Sounds Of Blackness, Mint Condition, Lo-Key? and Solo. However, the company does have their fair share of underpromoted acts. Very high on the list is the quartet 4.0- a vocal group from Atlanta, Georgia. The group- comprised of members Tony Hightower, Jason Sylvain, Sammy Crumbley and Ronald Jackson- were discovered by R&B singer Pebbles. She brought them into the fold after discovering TLC and rapper turned record executive Kawan "K.P." Prather's former group Parental Advisory. They initially got their start singing the hook on the title track- and second single- of Goodie Mob's 1995 debut "Soul Food". From there, the group signed with Perspective Records and released their self titled debut in 1997.

Being they were on Jam & Lewis' label, the hitmakers contribute two songs- the sensual ballad "I Won't Run Out Of Love" as well as the first single "Have A Little Mercy". Also on the album is former Trackmasters member turned Flyte Tyme associate Alex Richbourg producing the bulk of the album. Here, he contributes two uptempo songs "Keep Doin' It" and "If You Want Me", along with a few ballads- including "Oh Baby" which features Mint Condition's Stokley Williams on drums. However, not everything on the album is a Flyte Tyme affair. In fact, a few of the names from LaFace Records show up- such as singer/songwriter/producer Tony Rich producing the throwback ballad "Slow Jam" and the soother "Just A Little". The production team Organized Noize (OutKast, Mista, En Vogue) produce the funk-rock ballad "Can I Spend The Night". As great as their debut was, sadly 4.

4.0 out of 5 stars Ole School "Baby-making" Music! March 29, 2010
Format:Audio CD
This was great! I fell in love with "Have a Little Mercy" back in the 90's when this cd first came out, but I only just now decided to purchase. It's almost exactly as I expected: A cd full of romantic, slow, "baby-making" music. It was a LITTLE slower than I would've liked, but it works for these guys. Wish they'd had a longer career. They should've.
My only complaint was that it took so long getting to me (6 days!).
