Hi, I have to warn folks who consider buying this (at least to use with a 1 1/4 hitch reciever) this thing has so much slack that it is swaying about a foot (!!) to the left and right and back and forth... I did not dare to put bikes on it and drive it in traffic... What a shame because the general construction is quite heavy and solid. But all the slack due to sloppy tolerances adds up... I considered fixing it, maybe weld some parts together but the huge slack in the reciever itself (which works fine with any other towing equipment) makes this pointless . Waste of time and money, better get one with good ratings.

Purchased this hitch receiver bike rack to transport four adult size bikes on a recent camping trip. For the money I don't think it can be beat - only paid $49.99 including free shipping! It was very easy to assemble and it's plenty big enough for four bikes. The red rubber pads used to secure the bikes to rack work great at protecting bikes. I found that the first bike (closest to vehicle) tended to shift during transport because the red rubber pads would slide on the frame towards the vehicle when stopping and starting. To aleive this problem I used four 1 1/2" stainless pipes straps on both sides of each red pad to keep them from moving much during transport. The only other negative was that the entire rack leans backward when loaded with multiple bikes - that's because it is made to fit either a 1 1/4" or 2" receiver - the plastic insert leaves slack in the receiver allowing it to sag backwards. That said I have hauled four bikes over 600 miles at highway speeds with no issues. Make sure you use included straps to strap each bike to the other to keep them together on the rack. For the money it is an incredible buy.

BEWARE OF THIS BIKE RACK...cheap metal and locking pin doesn't fit correctly...I seriously doubt that this rack could hold one bike, never mind 4!! BargainFly wanted to charge me a restocking fee for defective merchandise (yes, I ordered 2 racks and both were defective). Had to argue with the owner to get a refund...not a pleasant experience at all! Too bad Amazon allows them to sell on their site...this company and their products are garbage! If I could give them zero stars, I would!
