Different but still worth the wait,

Anyone who expects a band to sound the same after almost 20 years is crazy. Ronnie and the band have changed with time and while this album does not rock as hard as 1,2 and 3 it still has some great playing and vocals. LAST MAN ON EARTH is a great track. Denny Davey and Glenn sound great. Ronnie is always good. The album has a more blues feeling than the old hard rock sound. I don't agree with the other review on this site that said it was a waste of money. Some people want every thing to stay the same. I say support the artist is you like them and by doing that you try the album and see if you like it.

More bluesey-AOR, but good,

I kind of agree with both reviews below, apart from the waste of money comment. If you specifically wanted another Montrose or Gamma album picking up exactly where they left off, this isn't quite what you'd expect - there's nothing on here like 'Four Horsemen', so maybe it is a waste of money if that's the only criteria. But if you have broader tastes, still like Montrose & Gamma, also like sometimes bluesey, middle of the road classic inspired rock done very well, you'll be happy. Personally I can't abide vanilla mainstream oldschool rock (Bon Jovi etc) but Montrose's playing lifts this one notch above the mainstream pap. Give it a few listens to sink in, maybe with headphones on - you can still clearly hear it's Montrose in the details, cutting through the overly emotive mainstream vocals (most of these songs have embarrassingly cliched American Rock Song (TM) lyrics, but hey, so does everything Bruce Springsteen does, so if you like 'the boss', you won't mind). The guitars sound fantastic, if you're into playing you might appreciate this even if just for that aspect.

This is a little bit of a departure from the three previous gamma cd's. Darkness to ligth..the heaviest track on the cd, Love will find you..the most radio playable song on the cd migth have fit well on gamma 3, resurrection upbeat, bluesy cover, oh no you don't(it along with previous track has horns on it) is more of staight ahead rock song, Bad reutation..might have fit well on Gammma 1, Last man on earth, bluesy...lots of guitar playing on it, the only one ..accoustic song..a good one , too, Out of these hands, harder rockin slide guitar song most daring song on the cd, prayers anothe acoustic song, the low road home..starts out accoustic but picks up..the most progressive song on the cd.

This Gamma cd does mine a little different vein than the other three Gamma cd's, but I still like it. The first track is a prety hard rocker..not mayday but still good. The second song is an airplay type song which is good, too. Thrid track(a cover) is a boogie hard rocker with horns by edgar winter in it. Fourth track is a more staight ahead song with horns. The last man on earth put me in mind of voyager...long guitar solo in it. the accoustic song are tracks 7 and the last one, and the next to the last one actually they are pretty good with the last track being somewhat progresive and picks up with ronnie playing slide guitar.

Waste of Money,
By A Customer

After much anticipation of the Gamma 4 album, I was totally disappointed. This album lacks enegry and imagination. I wasted my money, please dont waste yours. If you acoustic like music there are some nice tunes and plenty of them, but definately not Montrose material. I am sorry that I had purchased it and probably will recycle it.
