5.0 out of 5 stars Unknown Classic
This is the only CD I have from Kool G Rap, and let me say it is one amazing album. I don't know if all his album's are like this but I just can't get over how good this CD really is. I have been sleepin on it for 8 years. I first got my hands on this jewel in 2003. I think every song on this CD is fantasic. No weak points in the album, just good jams, right after...

3.0 out of 5 stars 4, 5, 6 is G. Rap in th' ice ages
Ay yo, this is not G. Rap in his DJ Polo days, and compared with earlier releases "Road to the Riches", "Wanted Dead or Alive" and "Live or Let Die", he dosen't display anything new. Half th' beats aren't ear-pierceing and neither are th' lyrics. Some of the guests even outshine him on this album. I'd recommend his latest release over...

No weak points in the album, just good jams, right after another. Yes it is a little short with only 11 tracks, 1 of those tracks is an intro, and 1 is a remix to a song on the CD. But there are no bad songs, which makes up for that. It features Nas on one track, and B1 (who I have never herd of) & MF Grimm both on two tracks. It also has production by Buckwild from Diggin in the Crates Crew. I don't have any favorite songs becuase there all good in there own way. This CD is worth the $15. This CD is only for True Hiphop Heads!

5.0 out of 5 stars Kool G Rap "The Best", December 2, 2004
By
This review is from: 4 5 6 (Audio CD)
Kool G Rap by far is my favorite rapper of all time. The 4,5,6, was without a doubt a classic. Every time i think about rap songs that came out during my high schol years, this album always come to mind. I was kind of upset that DJ Polo wasn't included in this album, because if he was then this album would of blown up world wide. The song that i like the most i say would have to be "Fast Life". Every time i hear that song it reminds be of my old hood in Queens & Da Boogie Down BX.

5.0 out of 5 stars G Rap!, July 26, 2005
This review is from: 4 5 6 (Audio CD)
Kool G Rap is an ill mc all around. Storytellin, battle rhymes, etc. 4,5,6 showcases Kool G rap's almost breathless delivery that is just amazing to hear. Any Kool G Rap CD is a must listen this is an ESSENTIAL.

5.0 out of 5 stars Cold as ice., May 11, 2003
This review is from: 4 5 6 (Audio CD)
Theis record stands out as the most chilling rap CD I own. Its a cold-blooded classic, but I was disappointed the first time I played it because I was expecting something in the style of Live and let die. This couldn't be further away. There are no jokes, no sex, no funky grooves, just one slow jam after another. Production is shiny and heavy, a big Illmatic influence is obvious (check Nas rapping on Fast Life, being sampled on the title track, and is that him standing next to G Rap on the cover? I think it is), but this is no idle immitation of that classic. Every track is solid from all perspectives, even if the initial shock at G Raps change in direction may perplex you - don't let it. This is one of the 20 best rap records out there IMO.

4.0 out of 5 stars Another one from Kool G.Rap, April 16, 2004

1995 was a tremendous year for hip hop, and this album is one of the reasons why. Although it was slept on by most, G.Rap still represented with 4,5,6, and it shows with his delivery on this album. He still had the things that fans of REAL hip hop cherish: storytelling, battling, good subject matter, etc. He might not have reigned supreme like he did in the early 90s, but this album showed that he was still on top of his game. Here's the review:

Album Highlights: 4,5,6, It's A Shame(original & remix), Fast Life(w/ my favorite MC Nas), For Da Brothaz, and Executioner Style.

Production: Thumbs in the middle, but nothing mediocre.

Lyrics and Subject Matter: Thumbs up, but very slighty. Nothing truly groundbreaking here.

Originality: Thumbs in the middle, leaning SLIGHTLY towards up.

The Last Word: While not as strong as Wanted Dead Or Alive and Live And Let Die, G.Rap still represented for hip hop, as he NEVER changed his style to fit the "commercial satisfaction" of hip hop. While certainly not one of his best, this album still has some classic material. It's what you expect from G.Rap. Recommended.

5.0 out of 5 stars What you don't know, Believe the ghetto knows, May 30, 2006
This review is from: 4 5 6 (Audio CD)
This album i copped in 2003, and i must say this album is official, hot production by Dr Butcher (very underrated producer),Naughty Shorts, and T-Ray (he produced for the artifacts ' classics like Wrong Sides Of The Tracks),this album is a classic, very underrated, my favorite tracks are 4,5,6, Take 'Em To War,Executioner Style, Blowing Up In The World(using the hot blazing sample of Bobby Caldwell's What You Won't Do For Love),and my favorite Ghetto Knows, and based on what i read on mf grimm's interview there was supposed to be a video for the single Take Em To War but i think he got locked up or somethin' like that, plus he got shot and got paralysed, somethin i read but that wouldve been hot but instead it was replaced by fast life which is a hot song but i like the buckwild remix better, this album is recommended for fans of mid 90's hip hop, real hip hop and kool g rap, hope u guys found this review helpful, peace.

4.0 out of 5 stars New "G" Rap, November 18, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: 4 5 6 (Audio CD)
This album may not be the KGR of old, but let's face it, Nas ain't the same now either, or Wu-tang, Redman and Slick Rick. My point is that we must judge new albums by these artists by different standards. Kool G rap shines on this album, which was meant to be a re-anauguration into the rap world of the King of Old school massacre-laced rhymes (remember the ads in the source?). I liked 4,5,6 a lot, and it reminded me a bit of Rae's album which came out a month earlier. Criminology at its finest, as showcased by joints like "its a shame", the title track and "blowin up in the world". A warning to the faint of heart though, tracks like "take em' to war" and "executioner's style" are gory mob tales enough to make Gotti flinch: "i'm already dead/so naw that ain't no killin me/cuz quantities of entities enter me evilly". Haunting indeed. ALso check for the bouncy "fast life" with Nas. Dope indeed.

Yes, Sir, this is the obnoxious flow of the East Coast Rap scene. This is the epitome of the New York Rap Game. The contagious mind set that sets the bar to the real game high and on fire. Production is tight and the flow is death defying. Don't step to this! He learned from the best. His name is Kool G Rap!

I been listening to G Rap since the Colors soundtrack. Loved Streets of NY and Wanted Dead or Alive when it came out. He is one of the realest rappers of all time-he has a delivery that has a visceral effect not unlike Tupac or Eminem where you just feel the raw emotion in his voice. He is at his prime here and anyone who truly loves hip-hop should check this album out no doubt
