The story meanders and totally ineffective.

The training, the competition, the fear, the adrenalin, the fatigue, the pain, the pure joy of running, the actual race--they are all part of this movie.
Nancy Vincent Zinke
I would like to see more running movies out there but with stuff like this it really just makes it harder for really good running movies to get funded.

I had my doubts, but this movie came through and I was truly surprised by the talent from the leading actor, among the rest of the cast. Very inspirational/thought-provoking film and I look forward to seeing the reception that this film receives when it comes out int theaters! Really great that we can watch it now on VOD - Truly recommending this film to anyone who loves the state of Washington, running track or trying to find some helpful and healthful inspiration somewhere.

4 Minute Mile breaks down all of the cliches about sports films and gives the genre new life. The acting in this film is incredible. You manage to feel pain and love for each and every character- an impressive feat for a lesser known film. It's great to see Richard Jenkins play such a vulnerable role. This is a movie you can watch time and time again and get something new out of it each time.

Good movie...This kid is put in a really tough spot in which anger serves to drive him harder. Actors are excellent...wish there'd been more Kim Basinger...haven't seen her in years.

Really enjoyed this movie. It is a gritty, sad, but soulful story of deep grit and determination when the odds are stacked against you. I highly recommend.

The movie was originally titled "One Square Mile" which made more sense than [PLOT SPOILER] "4 Minute Mile" as no one actually runs a four minute mile in this film. Drew Jacobs (Kelly Blatz) likes to run, his dad OD, his brother (Cam Gigandet) deals drugs, although not very good at it, and mom (Kim Basinger) tolerates it all.

Drew leaves the HS track team because he doesn't like the coach and can't handle the kids calling his brother a loser. The film moves on to the "Karate Kid" formula as the neighbor (Richard Jenkins) takes him under his wing and teaches him to run using semi-unorthodox training techniques. Drew has a female interest in Analeigh Tipton and a rival in Whitehall.

This is a movie for those who like those "Lifetime" films. Family drama outweighs much of the story. Not much action. And no four minute miles.

Parental Guide: No F-bombs, sex, or nudity.

This movie was extremely disappointing for a variety of reasons. First, let me tell you what I liked. This is a visually pleasing movie. Set in Seattle, the cinematography is outstanding. The acting is reasonably good (by most of the lead actors). The running sequences are decent. Kelly Blatz has the look of a runner and does a nice job as the brooding, troubled teen.

Now what I did not like. The writing is terrible. The story meanders and totally ineffective. There were two writers and my bet is that some suit wanted to "spruce up" this "running" movie with a STUPID drug subplot. That subplot was totally unnecessary. There was a (potentially) great story that was subverted to the point of absurdity by that subplot. I also questioned wether anyone associated with the final product has any background in track or running. The "crazy" training methods of the "old coach" were ridiculous. Not only was it not realistic but it was nonsensical.

There was a good (maybe great) movie in here but unfortunately the writing and plot destroyed it. I have learned that the original title was "The Square Mile" and that makes more sense than "The 4 Minute Mile". I am VERY disappointed with this film!!

Fantastic movie! Watching this movie inspires it's viewers to go find their own "walls" and break through them. Superb cast, compelling story, and beautifully delivered.
