Editorial Reviews

Third Man Records/Warner Bros. Records is excited to release The Greenhornes' first full length LP of new material since 2002's 'Dual Mono.' This new album may be their strongest collection of songs yet. It's diverse yet very concise, from the dark pop of lead single 'Saying Goodbye,' to the bubble glam of 'Song 13,' to 'Cave Drawings' moody psych; it's an eclectic and mature work and very much The Greenhornes own.

1. Saying Goodbye
2. Underestimator
3. Better Off Without It
4. Cave Drawings
5. Song 13
6. My Sparrow
7. Need Your Love
8. Left the World Behind
9. Go Tell Henry
10. Jacob's Ladder
11. Get Me Out of Here
12. Hard to Find

4 stars is as 4 stars does....great album.

I am 43 years-old and for some reason (band voodoo, I am guessing) the Greenhorne's style of music transports me back-in-time 25 years to when I used fake IDs as a high schooler to sneak into Nashville-area bars to see kickazz bands passing through town. These guys = a raw, emotional, inspired, talented sound.

Clearly, I am no music reviewer. I just like this album/group and thought I'd share.

The Greenhornes a Cincinnati, Ohio based garage rock band, surprised me with this album, it had been 8 years since their last studio full lentgh album "Dual Mono", they did release an ep in 2005 "East Grand Blues", but I didn't think we would see this guys again, since Jack Lawrence and Patrick Keeler were doing projects with Jack White.

Here on this great little platter "4 Stars", the 60's again meet the 2010's. There British sound makes this band so special. The rhythm section of Lawrence and Keeler are just great with lead vocalist and guitarist Craig Fox doing great through out the whole album.

The songs that stuck out for me were, "Underestimator", a beautiful 21/2 minute rocker, "Better Off Without It", with some fine keyboards by Andrew Higley, the soul sounding "My Sparrow", just a tremendous song, "Need Your Love", brings to mind 1966, good rocker. The nugget sounding "Left The World Behind", love the guitar by Craig Fox on "Go Tell Henry", the Kinkish "Get Me Out Of Here", and the r&b sounding "Hard To Find". It's too bad nobody even plays The Greenhornes, they are a nice little band.

with the release of this album the best band in america is back with a vengeance.despite the "vacation" from the band( dead weather, the racontuers) the greenhornes picked up right where they left off!!! primal garage rock at it's best!!!!!

When I purchased this vinyl, I had never heard the band's music. I had heard great things from friends and online reviews, but not even a note of one of their tunes. This album is a bit of everything. If you like classic rock, you will love this album. Made just years ago, it has a sound from decades past. The only reason I give it four stars is that the vinyl is not colored. It is black, like most others.
