Editorial Reviews

French band heavily influenced by Magma. Their first release was cassette-only. This CD reissue has been remastered from the original tapes (not the cassette) and sounds great.

5.0 out of 5 stars Viva la frog prog... January 9, 2014
Verified Purchase
First heard this in 1980 when I bought the cassette of this little gem. It is beautiful to hear it now, remastered on CD in all of its very strange wonder. I do not get the Magma comparison--Eskaton is truly an origianl outfit in the French prog scheme of things. Dark, haunting vocals supplied by two female singers, one who works in the mezzo-soprano range, the other much more strictly soprano. Fender Rhodes piano, chunky bass, squiggly/slithery Moog, some jazz fusion touches, you get the picture. But his is a thoughtful, occasionally frightening set of 4 pieces artfully stitched together. Comparisons? A bit closer to early King Crimson musically, maybe a touch of Pulsar. Totally unique and essential.
