  • Locate your SmartGuard Protection Plan under “Manage My Protection Plans”
  • Click “File Claim” and complete questions regarding the failure of your product
  • A professionally trained service provider will contact you for service
  • For in-home service on large items, you will be contacted to schedule a convenient time
  • For depot service, you will be contacted and provided shipping information

Other Details

  • Fast electronic delivery of your warranty contract. This is your official email confirmation of your purchase. Nothing will be shipped. The email you receive will provide instructions and a link to the SmartGuard website, www.mysmartguard.com, where you can register your plan and view more information. Again, you will not receive a paper copy of your contract unless you specifically request one.
  • Read the terms and conditions in the .pdf file link located at the top of this page. This document will provide you with full details about the plan you are purchasing and any additional state language regarding cancellations.
  • Coverage lasts up to four years from date of purchase. The coverage length is described in the Protection Plan title. It is a scam. Stay away from them. Don't buy it. I had a Sony camera that broke down 2 weeks ago. I called 3 times to schedule a pick up for repair. The 3 times they had issue with getting the ticket in the system. finally they did and I was told that they will send me a box for the camera with a return address. I never received anything and that was a week ago. I'm going to calling them tomorrow . I'll update the review

2 weeks ago I received the box with the returning label , but the camera is a mount shoulder camera and the box they send was a tiny box for a small camcorder . I called them 3 times explaining that I have a big camera I need a bigger box to ship it but useless They say yes will send you anther one but never got it.
It is not about the box I could buy one and ship it but if they can't get something that easy right, how could I trust them fixing my camera
I called sony , bought the part for $45 and fixed it my self.

Amazon need to get honest vender not scams like smart guard. For now I' m going to buy the rest of my cameras and equipment from a different website that can give me a real warranty not a fake one

Let me first say that before writing this review, I contacted Warrentech by phone and shared my concerns about their online Smart Guard registration process. A help desk agent informed me that she would pass on my comments to their Website department. Hopefully, this will lead to process improvement. The Warrantech registration of my Canon EOS 70D Camera and Lens Kit was very difficult. It could not be done at all, using Win 7 and IE! I had to use Google Chrome, but with problems. The process only allowed me to register the EOS 70D body without the lens. There is no way to enter the product serial number during the registration process and after I submitted the registration, a message displayed saying my registration could not be edited and that my camera's serial number was missing. The agent that I spoke to assured me that both my camera and lens were included under the Smart Guard 4 year accident protection plan and that it was not necessary to have the serial numbers on file for the coverage to be in effect. This seems odd, since the serial number shows as missing on my registered plan and there is no way to edit the information. Hopefully, I won't have to make a claim to find out if she is correct!

On the camera site: "Include 4-Year Drops & Spills Warranty for $83.99"

But in the 8-page PDF under Product Details, the "What is Not Covered" section includes "ACCIDENTAL DAMAGE, INCLUDING PHYSICAL/MECHANICAL/ELECTRONIC DAMAGE CAUSED BY DROPPING..."

The "Drops and Spills" warranty apparently does not include drops.

Yes, this warranty is a scam. Buy Mack Warranties from Adorama. Amazon is being sued for supporting venders that sell counterfiet products and scams such as this warranty.

There are reputable warranty companies out there. Smart Guard is a scam.
