  • Locate your SmartGuard Protection Plan under “Manage My Protection Plans”
  • Click “File Claim” and complete questions regarding the failure of your product
  • A professionally trained service provider will contact you for service
  • For in-home service on large items, you will be contacted to schedule a convenient time
  • For depot service, you will be contacted and provided shipping information

Other Details

  • Fast electronic delivery of your warranty contract. This is your official email confirmation of your purchase. Nothing will be shipped. The email you receive will provide instructions and a link to the SmartGuard website, www.mysmartguard.com, where you can register your plan and view more information. Again, you will not receive a paper copy of your contract unless you specifically request one.
  • Read the terms and conditions in the .pdf file link located at the top of this page. This document will provide you with full details about the plan you are purchasing and any additional state language regarding cancellations.
  • Coverage lasts up to four years from date of purchase. The coverage length is described in the Protection Plan title. Your plan begins on the date of purchase and is inclusive of the manufacturer’s warranty period. If you have an issue and are covered by the manufacturer during that time, you’ll be directed to the manufacturer first.
  • Shipments. Your plan begins on the date of purchase. However, if your warrantied item does not ship immediately and there are delays, you can contact SmartGuard at 1.877.308.8071 to adjust your plan period to the date of product delivery.

This "Protection plan" does not cover any sort of damage. From their terms and conditions under the section "WHAT IS NOT COVERED":


There are literally no examples of what is covered in their terms or anywhere on their website. Do not purchase this plan, it is a scam through and through.

the protection didn't arrive when they said. there are no clear instructions on how to use in case of accident.
i would not recommend to buy this as this is a total waste of money.

I'm like the other reviewers of the Protection Plan. Unless you drop it, I do not think they will make any repairs for any other accidents. The warranty should be amended to cover all types of accidents. They also do not ask for the SN of the camera or the lens and it is not clear what you do if only one fails. The warranty also comes via e-mail with a pdf attached.

WOW! There are so many exclusions they can easily refuse coverage and no receipt stating ADH. Copied the following directly from their Policy PDF sent to me on email.
AS RELATED AND APPLICABLE TO YOUR COVERED PRODUCT(S), THIS SERVICE CONTRACT DOES NOT COVER ANY FAILURE, LOSS, REPAIRS OR DAMAGE IN CONNECTION WITH OR RESULTING FROM: (a) Pre-Existing Conditions, as defined, incurred or known to You; (b) Improper packaging and/or transportation by You or Your representative resulting in damage to the Product while it is in transit, including improperly securing the Product during transportation; (c) Installation, removal, reinstallation or improper installation of parts/components, upgrades, attachments, accessories, peripherals or any items considered to be expendable or consumer replaceable; (d) Products that are used in heavy commercial or industrial applications/operations, or intended for Commercial Use, as defined, unless “Commercial Coverage” is evidenced on Your sales receipt; (e) Riot, nuclear radiation, war / hostile action, radioactive contamination, etc.
