I'm Sold on this Phenomenon!,
By A Customer
This review is from: The 40/30/30 Phenomenon (Paperback)
This book should be required reading by EVERYBODY. I lost 15 pounds just by following Gittleman's recommendations. I added back avocados, almonds, and olive oil to my diet. I found that I had long-term appetite satiety and believe me, this was the first time in years since following the fat-free diet fads. This is clearly a guide to a very popular eating program and to tell you the truth, who has time to read anything longer than 50 pages these days! I plan to read all of Gittleman's books, she is probably the most articulate spokesperson for dietary balance.....and she looks like she walks her talk!

The Best 40/30/30 Explanation Out There,
By A Customer
This review is from: The 40/30/30 Phenomenon (Paperback)
I just finished the 40/30/30 Phenomenon. This booklet was the most concise and clearest explanation of a rather confusing diet trend that I have read. As a nutritional counselor, this booklet will be required reading for ALL my clients because it is so well written and integrated. I briefly scanned two other reviews and am quite amazed at how some readers missed the point of this booklet entirely. 40/30/30 Phenomenon is clearly meant to be an overview of this diet program, not a dissertation.. Ann Louise Gittleman is a brilliant writer who has the art and skill of making a complex subject very understandable and practical. Read it and you will see!

Single Best Book on Nutrition I Have Ever Read,
By A Customer
This review is from: The 40/30/30 Phenomenon (Paperback)
Whoa! Just read this book and I must say that it makes the most sense out of anything I have ever read on the subject of nutrition. I didn't buy it for its recipes -either..One glance at the two sample recipes and you could tell that the publisher goofed! But the author's insights on the proper role of fats, healthy proteins and long lasting carbs were so brilliant. I think this book should be required reading for every teenager, women, and man out there. It says it all and you don't have to be a rocket scientist to understand it, either. I have lost 30 pounds on the lower carbohydrate diet plans. The 40/30/ 30 Phenomenon explains why, how, and where to go from here. I give this book 5 stars.

NO DOUBT ABOUT IT - THE BEST WRITTEN 40/30/30 BOOK,
By A Customer
This review is from: The 40/30/30 Phenomenon (Paperback)
I have just completed Gittleman's 40/30/30 booklet and not only is this easy and complete, but it is THE best written explanation of the 40/30/30 out there. She is an outstanding author who can skillfully consolidate some pretty confusing concepts into a meaningful practical program. I read two other reviews on this page - and they missed the point entirely about this booklet.. Because it is a booklet (and not a book), it is designed to be an introduction and overview to a new diet trend, not a dissertation. For mainstream Americans, 40/30/30 Phenomenon describes why the program is a phenomenon and how to follow this new program. Read it and you will see. As a nutritional advisor, this is MUST READING for my clients.

This review is from: The 40/30/30 Phenomenon (Paperback)
I have lost 10 lbs. and 9 inches in 4 weeks! I love this 40-30-30 diet and this book has made the concept really easy to understand. The recipes in the back and the tables that show your body type and how much you should eat is a life saver - especially for a working mom who has little time to count grams!!!I will be able to reach my goal of another 10 lbs. with this book and keep it off. It is so easy and you don't get hungry or cravings.

The Most Easily Understandable Zone type book Out There,
By A Customer
This review is from: The 40/30/30 Phenomenon (Paperback)
I am fascinated with the 40/30/30 concept but found all of the other books impossible to follow although the message made sense to me. This booklet explained in very succint terms what the Zone is all about and how we can get there, based on muscle mass, etc. The recipes are not bad..I just add a littlem more seasoning here and there. Overall, a great booklet. I recommend it highly.

This makes sense and it works,
By Spring Pearson (Goldsboro, NC United States) - See all my reviews
This review is from: The 40/30/30 Phenomenon (Paperback)
This is the first book on dieting that I have actually ever read past the third page. I read it from cover to cover in one sitting. Not only does the information make perfect sense, it works. I went from a size 10 to a size 4 in three months and I even cheated a little. I had started reading other information on low-carb diets, but most of it was so strict, I don't know how anyone with a family could stick to them. I am a true believer in this balanced way of low-carb eating. I have purchased about 10 of these books just to give out to friends. If you are serious about changing your eating habits permanently and maintaining your desired weight, this is a perfect place to start.

Warning - Recipes Don't Compute,
By Carole Goyen (Oakland, California) - See all my reviews
This review is from: The 40/30/30 Phenomenon (Paperback)
The book may be easy to read and a good overview of the ZONE diet plan, but... the first recipe I've tried, vegetarian lasagna, turned out to be a disaster. To begin with, the ingredient list is faulty. It calls for 3 tablespoons of Italian seasoning, but in the procedure, you only use 3 teaspoons. It then tells you to blend the cottage cheese until smooth - what cottage cheese - it was never on the ingredient list? Finally, right when you now know something is definetly off with the recipe and your assembling the noodles, etc. - IT DOESN'T FIT IN THE PAN. So much for 40/30/30 for tonight's dinner and the two hours in the kitchen. The recipe was a good idea and I'm interested in a solution if you ever read this Ms. Gittleman.

Mixed Feelings,
By Jon Perez (Ferndale, WA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: The 40/30/30 Phenomenon (Paperback)
This book was easy to follow, and it had some good information. However, the book (pamphlet may be more apropos) was very short. I had an "empty" feeling after I was done reading it. In my opinion, this book needed to be more complete.
