My mother used to burn this during the holidays when we were kids. I loved it then, and I love it even more now. It's my "cold weather" incense. I find the scent so comforting on cold, dreary days and quiet snowy days/nights. It's a really natural, woody, smokey pine scent, so if you're looking for a more concentrated pine needle scent, this may not be it.

This particular package (40 sticks + holder in cardboard box) is a great value for the price. It's worth noting that the sticks in this package are longer and denser than the 40 Fir Balsam Sticks In Plastic Case - Paine's Fir Balsam Incense, although I'm not entirely sure why since they're all Paine's sticks. While the plastic case seemed like a slightly better deal (if you already own a holder), those sticks burn down FAR more quickly. I'll stick with this particular packaging, even if I do end up with a few extra holders.

Paine's Fir Balsam Sticks are worthy of a 5-star rating. When people come into our house they think it is our tree giving off this wonderful aroma. I've been using Paine's for years.

These incense sticks smell good until you light them. Once lit they emit a smell quite similar to marijuana. Not what I had in mind!

If you like walking through evergreen forests; if you like the smell of aromatic logs in the fireplace, you will love these.

I love this stuff. I had discovered it many years ago as a teen and have looked for it ever since. I am so happy I found it again. Before lighting it the sticks smell like a beautiful alpine forest. After lighting it smells like a wonderful campfire. Excellent product!

I purchased this item specifically for the holidays. I love the smell of pine at Christmas and I thought this would fit the bill; however, it smells like a smoky incense not like pine. I continue to use it on occasion, but I would not buy it again if I was needing a pine smell.
