Dietrich Bonhoeffer fans will love this book! Those who want to practice journaling or strengthen their devotional life will also find this book to be a strong motivational tool. [I continually looked forward to the next reading.]

Each day starts with a portion of Bonhoeffer's writing; followed by an appropriate scripture portion, psalm segment, thought-provoking questions and brief prayer. While intended for personal use, I can see it being used successfully by a small group via email or face-to-face sharing their responses to the questions. Individual segments would also be appropriate for group devotions.Suitable for Lent or any other season of the year.

Bonhoffer is not a quick read. 40 DAY JOURNEY offers small nuggets to ponder each day, coupled with Scripture and meaningful questions. This nourishment for both heart and mind has changed my life.

Each day covers two pages in the book. There is a commentary by Bonhoeffer, Bible passage, questions to ponder, Psalm reading, journal questions and the prayer suggestions.

Throughout some of the days, there are themes, such as the beatitudes or the meaning of grace.

I enjoy this study guide. It is a good way to start your day. I'd allocate about 15 minutes per day.
