This album continues the signatures of the band's 80's output: A mix of band-penned and outside songs, along with the typical song or two fronted by bassist Teddy Gentry or guitarist Jeff Cook instead of main vocalist Randy Owen. And as usual, these forays are hit and miss. Typically, if you like a particular album from the first six ("My Home's In Alabama" through this one), you will like them all. Get this one before it goes the way of Ronnie Milsap's albums from the same era, and is unobtainable for less than $40.

I think that when this came out in 1985 it was the first Alabama album that was released on cd. Everything else had been on vinyl and later released on cd. I think. This is my favorite Alabama cd. The first song and the title song 40 Hour Week is a tribute to the working people. Just like Roll On was a tribute to truckers, Can't Keep A Good Man Down is my favorite Alabama song that was a hit. There's No Way is one of those love songs Alabama always did so well. Down On Longboat Key is a good song about a woman who keeps waiting for a man to come back. She keeps waiting waiting waiting. Louisana Moon is one of those Fire In The Night, Greenriver, Redriver type songs that always reminded me of the CCR songs. All the rest of the songs are good. And they end the cd with another one of their tributes to the South. If It Aint Dixie It Wont Do. Just an excellent cd.

I have purchased 4 releases from "Culture Factory" and I have been impressed beyond words with the re-creation of the vinyl sound. It is deep and rich!!! I have to warn buyers about one negative aspect...the CD's with the black lacquer finish on the back of the disc won't transfer to I-tunes on some laptops. I have a Toshiba Satellite 16" screen with 500gb and for some reason I can't put these in my I-tunes library. The folks at Culture Factory have sent replacements but they didn't work either. This only applies to the black lacquer finish on back. The disc(s) play fine in regular home and car audio CD players and you will NOT be disappointed. God Bless and Enjoy!!!
