Andy's frank and well informed insight into the inner workings of the 401k system are a must read for employee investing in a 401k plan. Hidden fees, lack of protection against systemic risk and all out corporate greed have made the 401k program nothing more than a funding vehicle for the mutual fund industry.

Anyone investing in a 401k plan needs to read this book, which challenged me to seriously re-evaluate the reason and benefit for investing in a program focused more on making the mutual fund companies rich that building my retirement next eggs.
A quick and easy read packed with plenty on real world examples and comments from credible industry insiders.

wanted as said, some solid info on 401ks, what better investments are there, the safest way to get your 401k money out, etc. His ENTIRE book is saying. "become an informed investor and learn about finance first." The WHOLE book is composed of saying this in an Infinite number of ways along with telling us that 401ks are mostly a scam and will ruin the country and us, There is no other information. I went chapter to chapter searching for anything else to learn and its just not there. The person who reviewed and said he told them how to get their 401k $ out and how to handle all that? Not there. He specifically tells someone in the book that he could not give that answer unless they had become financially informed and then they should know what to do with their 401k. Very disappointed...

Andy Tanner is an amazing teacher and his book lives up to his extraordinarily fun, passionate and energetic teaching style. He has taken a subject that most people don't care to know anything about and has engaged the reader so that we can not only discover the truth about 401K's, but also be empowered to make better financial decisions. He's proved that we can not be hands-off investors and achieve the level of financial freedom most of us seek. If you want to enjoy the benefits of freedom you must follow the discipline of financial education. As scary as that sounds, Andy makes the idea exciting and exhilarating, by igniting the flame of the entrepreneurial spirit that lies within all of us. I highly recommend reading 401(k)aos and discovering for yourself the truth about your financial future if you do not take action to change the inevitable path the current retirement system is leading us down.

This is not only about 401(k)'s. This is a must read to get a grip on all investments. This book gives insight to the myths most financial "advisors" tell you about your retirement plans. It helps make you a more informed investor for your future, not your advisors future.

From the beginning, I always had a bad feeling about my 401(k) plan, but never knew why. I trusted that the government and investment banking system had my best interest at heart... but my gut knew otherwise.

I remember when I was a teenager, hearing about all the pension funds that were stolen (legally) during that era. As a young kid I thought to myself, "I am never going to place myself in that position, never-ever!".

Then, in my mid 20's the 401(k) retirement plan was concocted. Working for the automotive industry, this plan was offered as a supplement to my pension and Social Security. I hoped it would be a safe haven and an alternative to the theft prone pension plans of the past. Even if my pension failed, I'd still have a back-up plan.

Yah Right!

Alas, it turned out to be just another devious way to steal my retirement savings just like all the other scams in the past...

You know, the more things change... the more things stay the same.
It's human nature... Isn't it?

Andy's book 401k(k)aos, shows us in spades, that where ever there is a large wad of retirement money, some government, employee union, investment bank or scam artist will find a way to steal it, either wholesale, or a little at a time. Now they have devised a plan that steals your wealth so subtlety and slyly, that you'll probably think it's all "your fault" when your retirement savings goes south...

For me, this book is about tough love and I know from experience, "The Truth Hurts"
(well, only at first...)

But the Truth can also be very empowering when one hears the message, becomes financially educated and takes vital action.

An awesome book that tells it the way it is.
Andy makes it easy to understand in his layman terms way of explaining things and the examples that he gives makes it understandable reading.
Again Awesome book.
