JAMO C 403 Speakers,

This review is from: C 403 Bookshelf Loudspeakers - Dark Apple (Pair) (Electronics)
Excellent clarity, low distortion, good bass - for the price you can't get anything better.
FYI there are (2) sets of binding posts per speaker, not the banana plugs shown in the OEM's site picture of the back. They are designed by Klipsch.

Hoping to help not offend, there are rubber plugs in the binding posts to allow banana plugs. The fit and finish of these speakers is outstanding. The first thing you do notice is that these have healthy bass. JAMO does not identify what the tweeter is made of on there website only to say they are DTT Decoupled Tweeter Technology. I have them paired with a Polk PSW 505 Subwoofer and a Yamaha receiver. These things image incredibly with female voice like Enya. I'm listening to them right now and I love them. Hope this helps your decision, Good day.

Disappointing highs,

I bought a pair of these when I was looking for bookshelf speakers that were more up to date than my Bose 301s. There was a great price from Worldwide Stereo through Amazon. I was intrigued by the Jamo name more than anything else. I could find literally no reviews of these anywhere, and so I was buying on name and price alone. I use my speakers primarily for stereo music listening, and some TV/movie.
The speakers arrived in fine shape and in a timely manner. Upon inspection, the Jamos appeared to be beautifully made and the case color looks rich and they look great with the grills off. All excited, I began listening and noticed that the highs were lacking in clarity. I am 60 years old and realize my hearing is not what it used to be, but Jeez Loueez, I could not understand the lyrics from the vocals I was playing, unless I cranked up the volume to higher than I wanted. By comparison, my old Bose speakers are much clearer. The Jamo highs were frankly either unclear or under emphasized, not sure which. Turning up the treble only helped a little. After giving them a week or so to burn in, they had not improved and I finally decided I would never be happy with them and returned them to Worldwide. They treated me right and credited my account for the purchase (less return shipping), and were prompt about it. I followed their return procedure and had no problems. I have since purchased a pair of Infinity P162 speakers and am very pleased with them. They burned in nicely and now sound very good. They are rich, smooth and detailed. Not audio nirvana, but much, much better. As for the Jamo C403, I could not recommend them for mains or stereo only use, surprisingly not for lack of bass, but for under-performing tweeters. |
