"The Ball Game" and "Did You see Jackie Robinson hit that Ball" both were excellent pieces along with several Swing hits from the 40s. The movie should be an Academy Award winner and the music contributed to that excellence.

Great time period music, loved the songs about Robinson and baseball in general. Already played it three times since I got it.

I normally avoid soundtracks because if I like a song, then I more than likely, I already have it. Occasionally there is a song that catches my attention. "The Ball Game" by Sister Wynona Carr is the song. It is interesting that a gospel song was used also in the film about baseball. I like the song, and the metaphors, and it piqued my interest into Carr, the artist. I also liked "Did You See Jackie Robinson Hit That Ball?" It is nice to see a song used, which is actually about the topic in the film. It also adds to the music variety in the film. Some of the tracks are well-known classics, so I am primarily interested in the songs, which had been unfamiliar to me. It is difficult to find a "soundtrack" with original songs, and this one uses songs, which have already been produced as well. At least, most of the tracks are actually used in the film, which often not the case.

Saw the movie and loved the music. Hard movie to watch but the music helped soothe the terribleness of the time. I grew up with my parents playing 40's music and they danced on the rooftop of the Peabody Hotel to all the big bands. Also we went to a minor league baseball games in Memphis, TN. So this is right up my alley.

When I saw the movie and heard the last two songs I knew that I had to have the soundtrack. I was not disappointed. It is a wonderful soundtrack and I listen to it often.

I wanted the soundtrack not this compilation of various songs from the era. Your description was misleading in calling it the Soundtrack. I have wasted my money and now have to reorder. I think the way you have promoted this CD alongside the actual soundtrack score is confusing and improper. I am pretty peeved as I was looking forward to Mark Isham's score for the picture but instead got a bunch of songs from the era used in the movie. I now will be extremley careful about descriptions that appear on the Amazon web site. This CD is not the soundtrack and that is what I wanted

Enjoyable music with some older tunes. Good for the memories of some great vocalist & orchestra bands. Don't think you'll be disappointed.
