Great Multi-Purpose Cooker, August 7, 2004
This review is from: Innova 42010 Stainless-Steel 10-Quart Pressure Cooker with Steamer Insert and Bonus Lid (Kitchen)
I was looking for a stock pot, something slightly larger than my 8 quart dutch oven for soups and chili. While browsing I saw this, and at 10 quarts it was the perfect size. With one lid it's a stock pot and using the other lid it doubles as a pressure cooker. It is classy, very pleasing to the eye, heavy duty, and high quality. I haven't used a pressure cooker in years and years, but remember some of my favorite dishes as a kid were made in one. A limited number of recipes are included, but they will give you some good ideas. Also, there are many pressure-cooker cookbooks on Amazon. So far, I've made deep fried chicken (20 minutes), pork roast (50 minutes) and an artichoke (10 minutes)in the pressure cooker in the first week. Everything cooks so fast and turns out so tender and flavorful. I'm anxious to try the recipes for pork chops with apples and the barbequed pork ribs. I bought it because it's a stock pot but will undoubtedly use it much more often as a pressure cooker. This will get a lot of use!

It comes with a canning disk, July 5, 2006
This review is from: Innova 42010 Stainless-Steel 10-Quart Pressure Cooker with Steamer Insert and Bonus Lid (Kitchen)
This pressure cooker is very good. First of all, it's big. That means you can cook a lot of stuff with it. It's summer time now and I don't want to cook as often. So I simply use this pressure cooker to cook a lot of chicken drumsticks at one time. They would last for two weeks. Together with some ham, that's the meat we eat. All I need besides this for dinner is some good salad. But beeing big also means that it's heavy and deep. Half of my arm has to reach inside to clean it. We also use it to make rice. The trick is to soak the rice over night. Second, it seems very durable. I would hope it last for a long time. Third, although it's not mentioned in the description, it does come with a canning disk -- whether I would use it or not is a different question. It also has a stainless steal streamer. Amazon currently offers $25 off $125. So what you could do is, buy this pressure cooker, add something else you want valued at >= $25, then you get the extra stuff for free.

extras make the deal, September 25, 2005

This is a great set. I like the steamer inserts. A bit of an old fashioned, wobble top steam valve. Old, but proven design (includes two or three weights) to give you a choice for how much pressure you want. Double plus, this easily functions as a good sized stock pot! Bigger is better, I wouldn't go any smaller even for two people. You do want to steam some big artichokes in 8 minutes, right? Gasket seems acceptable or at least it fits well and doesnt' pinch up.
