I was looking for a stock pot, something slightly larger than my 8 quart dutch oven for soups and chili. While browsing I saw this, and at 10 quarts it was the perfect size. With one lid it's a stock pot and using the other lid it doubles as a pressure cooker. It is classy, very pleasing to the eye, heavy duty, and high quality. I haven't used a pressure cooker in years and years, but remember some of my favorite dishes as a kid were made in one. A limited number of recipes are included, but they will give you some good ideas. Also, there are many pressure-cooker cookbooks on Amazon. So far, I've made deep fried chicken (20 minutes), pork roast (50 minutes) and an artichoke (10 minutes)in the pressure cooker in the first week. Everything cooks so fast and turns out so tender and flavorful. I'm anxious to try the recipes for pork chops with apples and the barbequed pork ribs. I bought it because it's a stock pot but will undoubtedly use it much more often as a pressure cooker. This will get a lot of use!

This pressure cooker is very good.First of all, it's big. That means you can cook a lot of stuff with it. It's summer time now and I don't want to cook as often. So I simply use this pressure cooker to cook a lot of chicken drumsticks at one time. They would last for two weeks. Together with some ham, that's the meat we eat. All I need besides this for dinner is some good salad. But beeing big also means that it's heavy and deep. Half of my arm has to reach inside to clean it. We also use it to make rice. The trick is to soak the rice over night. Second, it seems very durable. I would hope it last for a long time. Third, although it's not mentioned in the description, it does come with a canning disk -- whether I would use it or not is a different question. It also has a stainless steal streamer. Amazon currently offers $25 off $125. So what you could do is, buy this pressure cooker, add something else you want valued at >= $25, then you get the extra stuff for free.

This is a great set. I like the steamer inserts. A bit of an old fashioned, wobble top steam valve. Old, but proven design (includes two or three weights) to give you a choice for how much pressure you want.Double plus, this easily functions as a good sized stock pot! Bigger is better, I wouldn't go any smaller even for two people. You do want to steam some big artichokes in 8 minutes, right? Gasket seems acceptable or at least it fits well and doesnt' pinch up.

The Innova delivered on its promises and I saved by not buying a Kuhn Rikon. Their mock Le Creuset may indeed suck but I wasn't even tempted to try that product line based on the unseemly resemblance. I think steaming is best for this pressure cooker so I try to use the steamer insert as a barrier to the bottom of the pot to prevent burning. It is quite huge so not that easy to clean.

I'm going to write the same review for a couple pots I bought for my wife. They are replacing some scratched, rusting (ugh what a thought)loose handles, etc... very old!I researched and found Innova to be the best and that's what you buy for a gift... you don't want to appear to be cheap. Drinking wine is like a truth serum, but be careful, too much truth can get you into trouble. What follows is for an Innova Pressure cooker. I remember my grandmother and mother cooking with these, so I decided to buy one for my wife (actually for me because I like to cook but want recipes that don't take too long). That's where this pressure cooker reigns supreme. I can't say if it's the best or not because I have only had one, but I do remember that the price was right and for a quality product BUY IT! I need another glass of wine so I'll be back in a few minutes.

Pressure Cooker,

The cooker is solid and fairly easy to use and being able to use it as either a regular pot or a pressure cooker is very useful. Our only problem with it is the size. It would have been nicer to find a larger pot.

Stay away - DANGEROUS product,
This review is from: Innova 42010 Stainless-Steel 10-Quart Pressure Cooker with Steamer Insert and Bonus Lid (Kitchen)
We purchased this product a few months ago. Initially, it struck us as not very well made (the steel is pretty thin), it's worth noting that it is made in China. We decided to give it the benefit of the doubt and started using it approximately once-per-week.Th insulation around the lid seal is not very good and always let a couple drops leak while the pot is warming up and working up the pressure. The big problem is that the lid has a second steam escape valve that is activated with a cheap plastic button system -- its purpose is to quickly lower the pressure after cooking rather than waiting a few minutes for the pressure to naturally come down. So just yesterday, during cooking with a pot that was barely half full, this second escape valve exploded. Result -- messy floor, walls, and cabinetry in the kitchen, thank god noone was close by and noone got hurt. Stay away from this product -- it is downright DANGEROUS! Mine is going back to Amazon and I would prompt them to force the manufacturer to issue a safety recall.

I have had mine for about 13 years and use it probably twice a week. I am just now replacing the sealing ring for the first time - my own fault, as I melted it accidentally - would probably last forever otherwise. I have found this to be the sturdiest and most reliable of my pressure cookers (others are Fagor); I prefer a jiggle-top for accuracy. Incidentally, mine was made in Korea. It's possible that the quality of the product declined over the years, but it was top of the line when I initially acquired it.

Professional Quality,
This review is from: Innova 42010 Stainless-Steel 10-Quart Pressure Cooker with Steamer Insert and Bonus Lid (Kitchen)
I've had mine for about 13 years. I was so surprised on the negative write ups. My experience has been positive. It's very well made, it easy to use, and it cleans quickly. I love my pressure cooker. I've never had trouble with it. I always considered it my best cookware. The reason I was on the web was to purchase another one.

this thing is beautiful stainless steel. i got it for only about 76.00 back in 2004 and have not been sorry once. it is heavy and although i wanted the 8 quart one at the time but this one was cheaper after the 25.00 off, i think it is just the right size.after the dog food scare recently, today i decided to cook up 10 pounds of leg quarters for my dogs and the whole 10 pound bag fit it perfectly....and the dogs were very happy with this purchase! the chicken cooked up without heating up the kitchen and the meat just fell off of the bones....isn't that what a pressure cooker is supposed to do anyway? everything i have purchased from amazon has been some of the best buys and best products i have ever purchased. the service as very fast and even when i ordered some kitcheaid spatulas at christmas and they were on back order until after the first of the year, i still got them before christmas!! i recommend amazon to everyone but always say to do the research first to get the best price and free shipping. |
