This is the first backpack sprayer I ever bought. I've had a few conventional tank type sprayers in the past. I couldn't face lugging those around anymore so the weed control wasn't being done. I decided to try a backpack style and the price seemed resonable for the Solo. I can take care of my entire property in two fills (6 Gallons) and the effort in pumping is negliable compared to a tank sprayer. The tank is marked in gallons but I wouldn't depend on this, 4 gallons may be rounding up. I put three gallons in it and it registered well above the 3 gallon mark. If this one wears out I'll buy another one because the time and effort saved already payed for it with the first use. I don't know how other brands compare but this one has everything I need and the quality is first rate.

The Solo 425 Deluxe is a great performing sprayer. Glad I got the deluxe model as it has a pressure gauge, a brass nozzle, and padded shoulder straps. I use it for herbicides and it reaches far enough to spray blackberries with enough volume that I otherwise could not reach with my old small hand-pump sprayer. The hand pump works really well and is easy to operate without taking the backback off. Obviously it is heavy when filled to capacity, so I only put 2 gallons in which lasts a long time. Finally, the Solo is easy to clean. Great tool!

Having used this sprayer for YEARS with not one single problem, I highly recommend it, period. This sprayer will spoil you for the rest. As sprayers can be one of the most aggravating tools in existence, we will never go back to a lesser sprayer...IF this one ever wears out! It has given us years and years of top performance!

I had a Northern Tools rechargeable sprayer that couldn't handle Roundup because it was too caustic. I replaced it with this 'manual' Solo sprayer and it works great. The ergonomics are great and the pump handle, which is adjustable, can be put in a convenient location. I like the adjustable spray nozzle and also the fact that the maximum pump pressure can be changed on the unit I bought. I also confirmed it will handle Roundup, although I can't imagine why anyone would sell a sprayer that doesn't since it's so popular. Very good design at a good price.

Now that I've had this for over a year, let me add these comments. I spray diluted Roundup 1-2 times per month and the sprayer started leaking down my back and legs after just over a year (warranty had just expired). However, I contacted Solo and they sent me a rebuild kit for them. Kudos for doing this. However, it's now a few months later and it's leaking again. Upon taking it apart, I've realized there is a seal that is poorly designed and will, in all probability, continue to fail. I will notify them of this, but will look for another manufacturer of a similar backpack type sprayer.

I purchased several of these backpack sprayers. They were to replace my shindaiwa sprayers sp300 3-gallon, sp415 4-gallon & sp518 5 gallon sprayers. Newer versions of shindaiwa sprayers do have different numbering. I do believe the solo sprayer fit better on your back as they are concaved for your back. The gauge is helpful if your into pressure & droplet size depending on your tip size. I felt like the straps were cheap & the strap connector to the bottom of the frame are plastic. I am use to metal clips. As I am 6 foot tall the hose length is not long enough. Windy days I try to keep the spraying tip closer to the ground the prevent wind drift. At my height & the length of the hose I need to bend over so the tip is only a few inches from the ground. NOT so good for my back. this model has a 4 foot hose as I am use to a 5 foot hose. If your a few inches shorter most likely not a problem. Over all for myself I will be going back to shindaiwa or even a better product. Please keep in mind as I run a small/medium size landscaping Co. We service about 95-105 customers, average size property 3/4 acre, 4 time annually. If you are looking to purchase this product for personal use or you have a few customers this sprayer will be fine for you for years to come.

I like everything about this sprayer.
My work is done in half the time and the pump is great, absolutely effortless.. I love both the hollow cone and flat tips.
The straps make it so comfortable to carry around.
The small profile makes it a breeze to work in tight quarters.
I am thinking of getting another. One for pesticides and another for foliar feeding.
My hats off to Solo on this one. Makes up for the disappointment I had with the Solo 454, but I guess you get what you pay for.

Really nice product but the snap on strap holders leave some to be desired. Some times they can pop off when picking it up to put it on. Have never come off while wearing it though.

I use this sprayer to keep my dog runs free of fleas and ticks on an 18-acre property. I am spraying about 2 acres. Generally, it takes 2-3 refills to cover that much territory. I would rate the product an additional star if the straps were better padded and the unit was easier to lift over my shoulders (the straps tend to be hard to adjust and therefore hard to get on). The sprayer itself does a very nice job, and I had no issues with the adjustable nozzle. No parts have come off or needed to be tightened in a few months of use.

I feel as though I've been robbed! The product picture shows a pressure gauge on the spray handle, the those that reviewed the Solo 425 Deluxe even mention the gauge, yet mine has no such gauge. The carton is marked Solo 425 Deluxe, but mine has no gauge, and this is a major reason I spent extra money to purchase this model.

Solid tank with great pressure. Everything else seems cheep. I have only used it once and the hook on the shoulder strap broke before I put it on my back, very thin plastic. Pump handle is made to move out of the why when not in use, but when you use it, it wants to turn away as you pump making it difficult to use. I thought a $120 tank would be above average, not. The pressure to spray distance is what I was looking for and it's there. There rest is yet to be seen. I believe it will be a good unit, but you will have to handle with care. Amazon and delivery was good.
