The DELTA 43-460 1-1/4-inch 5 HP Solid Spindle Shaper's spindle, housing, motor, and raising and lowering mechanism are in a single self-contained unit, which is securely assembled to the underside of the table for absolute 90-degree spindle-to-table alignment. Its rugged drive spindle assembly and permanently lubricated ball bearings are preloaded to prevent distortion at high speeds to assure accurate, chatter-free shaping. A massive 40-x-27-inch table (with standard cast-iron extension wings) provides extra support for shaping large work. Other features include a precision-ground face and ribbed under table construction to prevent warping. Also included is a precision milled 3/8-x-3/4-inch T-slot, a miter slot to accommodate a miter gauge, a sliding miter jig, and other accessories for holding the workpiece. Conveniently grouped controls are at the front of the machine within easy reach of the operator from a normal working position and deep-tapered spindle design for easy changing of accessory spindles from 1/2-to-1-1/4-inch to permit use of a wide variety of shaper cutters. The table opening size can be varied, as needed, by removing special table insert rings. With a table height of 34 inches, this shaper weighs 456 pounds. This shaper includes a 5 HP, 3-phase, tri-voltage (200-230/460) motor with LVC switch, a motor pulley, a poly V belt drive, two 10-inch cast-iron extension wings, a micro-adjust fence and guard assembly, 1-1/4-inch spindle, table inserts, a starting pin, a two-speed spindle pulley, and wrenches.

This high-speed production shaper has the ability to use seven different spindle sizes and a router spindle to handle a wide variety of tasks. Included with the unit is a 1-1/4-inch solid spindle, interchangeable accessory spindles are available. A five-horsepower, totally enclosed fan-cooled motor provides the muscle to handle demanding tasks such as panel raising. The motor is three phase and can be wired for 200, 230, or 460 volts to accomodate a variety of users. The drive mechanism is a single, self-contained unit consisting of the spindle, motor, housing, and raising and lowering mechanism. This assembly is mounted directly to the underside of the 30-by-27-inch cast iron table for perfect 90-degree alignment. A 10-inch table extension is included for extra surface area and support. Increasing the accuracy of cutting is the micro adjustable fence. Both fence halves can be adjusted independently for ultimate precision and safety in all cutting operations. The fence has a coarse adjustment for quick positioning and a micro adjustment for precision set up. Built into the fence is a multi-featured safety guard and material hold down mechanism. This mechanism tilts up out of the way for cutter changes. The locking spindle-adjusting wheel and the on/off switch are conveniently located together and within easy reach from normal operating position. A magnetic starter switch controls the motor and will break contact in the event of power loss so the operator must re-start the machine when the power is restored. This prevents automatic re-starts that could occur if the switch maintained contact, a potentially unsafe situation.
