I wanted something that linked up to cover my doors and some of the windows that are easily accessible. This system is very loud and was easy to install. I bought the control panel and 4 extra sensors. I just set it up and tested it and it works perfectly. I feel safer knowing that if my doors or windows are opened while I'm sleeping I will be alerted and hopefully the intruder will be scared away.

This security system works well. Sometimes difficult to get programmed, but once programmed it works great and gives some relief of security and a good night's sleep. The motion detection works great and the other accessories go great with the unit. All accessories I added only made the system better.
This also can be set up for a chime on the front door or back door. if opened you will know.

As with the motion sensors for this GE product, these do NOT communicate up to 150 feet. Feel lucky if you can get up to 30 feet. And if the temperature dips below 35 degrees, these don't function well. See my review for the Motion Sensor component. These are just not worth it... you get what you pay for and I'm upset that I thought these might work when they're clearly an inferior and barely useful item. I will state that the base unit is cheaply made and does not function as expected or according to the descriptions in its little manual. Quite indicative of cheap junk. Finally, be prepared - the ONLY WAY this unit attaches to the wall is with sticky TAPE. I did not expect that. Just absurd junk!

This one was to replace a malfunctioning one that was purchased several months ago. I replaced the battery on old one but it did not seem to function correctly even with a new battery and and a repeater. The gap on the door was within specs but it still would not recognize that the door was closed.

Most doors are easy to instal on but some with different types of moulding may need to have the moulding notched to have each piece of this alighned correct with the other piece. Get out the wood chisel.

this window/door alarm is easy to install and functions perfectly in setting off the alarm or alerting you of an opening of the door/window. if only the motion detector worked as well.

I purchased the complete GE Choice Alert system. I'm a single woman living in the tri-state area, and wanted to make sure that my apartment is secure and that I am safe at night. The sensor is easy to install on doors and windows, (you can use double stick tape to secure them). Follow the instructions for installing the sensor and connecting it to the control panel and it will work very well. I have no complaints with the sensor (I do have a few issues with the main control unit), but overall a good purchase for affordable home security, perfect for apartments.

Don't waste your money - once you install the thing, you can no longer get to the sides to open it to replace the battery. Worked for about 2 weeks, then the factory-installed battery died and we had to rip them off to replace batteries. Ruined my new windows.
