5.0 out of 5 stars GREAT PATTERN BOOK May 9, 2008
By Sheryl
Format:Paperback|Amazon Verified Purchase
I have yet to come across an Iris Folding book that has this many unique patterns for the price. All patterns are full-size. No need for enlarging. I highly recommnend this book to anyone who is looking for a wide variety of patterns. A very good value!

Cons
This book is written only in metric measurements, and the wording is a little misleading, the instructions start...
"...fill in the hole from the outside to the inside with folded strips of envelopes." - apparently where the writer comes from the envelopes come with pretty patterned papers inside them. There is no mention of how thick the paper should be. I found that regular scrapbook paper turns out bulky and if you use tape as mentioned you end up with a huge pile of tape and paper on the reverse side of the card so much so that even if you covered it with paper it would look like you had stuffed it with a sock!(this was a pattern with 5 different papers 7 deep) Use wrapping paper or some paper of that thickness to avoid the bulk.

The "instructions" on how to complete a basic triangle are given first and leave off with a statement about how long the strips should be. You look forward a few pages and find a "step-by-step" photo instruction and that should get you going on the technique.

I am not certian where the 460 cards number came from(the number of actual photos perhapse), but there are only 118 different patterns.

The repititious color photos of card layouts that are rather bland in the overall creative design around the iris pattern.

Pros
Many nice color photos of different card layouts showing how different patterned papers in the same iris design look.

The 118 patterns.

I purchased this book because of the possitive reviews and the "460 cards to make". Most people thought the directions were good, but never having even laid eyes on a card done using this technique I would be a complete newbie to iris folding. I have been paper crafting for over ten years and was able to figure it out through trial and error and the sparse photos that actually had to do with the how-to of iris folding. After seeing and using the book I still would purchase it again since there are many paterns in it, but I find myself still looking for another book that may have more unique patterns along with tips on the projects.

5.0 out of 5 stars Iris Folding Book May 15, 2008
Format:Paperback
I wanted a book that had a lot of patterns and this was the book.
This is a fabulous "value for Money" book, it has a few books in one and the pictures and instructions are first class. Would recommend buying this if you are a real keen Iris Folder.
