I just saw this. Does anyone know if Amazon can or will match this price?

Jason says:
I doubt it since its a promo code.

M. Henzel says:
Yep! $14 cheaper for me!!
Amazon charges me Tax and Newegg doesn't.

Buy from Newegg...
I just wasted 30 minutes with Purnima & Harika? trying to get them to price match to Newegg, but they told me this (several times):

I'm sorry, with the exception of TVs, Amazon doesn't offer a price match guarantee.
We do consistently work toward maintaining competitive prices on everything we carry.
Because the marketplace is constantly changing and we strive to offer the lowest price, you'll see some fluctuations in our prices over time.
However, you can let us know about a lower price by clicking the "tell us about a lower price" link in the Product Details section of any product page.

So Amazon, I have been a customer of yours since day 1.. I am taking my business to

Thanks for posting this. Sometimes Newegg has better deals, other times, they don't. In this case, 8 dollars cheaper for me at NewEgg. That's fine with me!

M. Henzel says:
Only $8 cheaper? Did you get yours from Amazon for $55.99?
It should be $12 cheaper.

For me it's $16 cheaper because it's also tax free!

In reply to an earlier post on Jan 7, 2012 3:23:28 PM PST
Amazon was $60 (With prime, shipping is free).
Newegg ended up being $48 with the code, but in California there was about $4 in tax so the total was $52-ish (Free 3 day UPS shipping, I don't need it on release day...)

Cali with all your stupid taxes. heh. Got it for $47.99 here in Florida. I want to see new footage!!! I also hope its not as hard as TM Black. Black was too hard for me.

M. Henzel says:
Ahh, we are the opposite here. I have to pay 8% tax on all Amazon orders, but not on Newegg.
So either $47.99 on Newegg or $64.79 on Amazon.

A $16.79 difference to be exact.

Come on Amazon.. Price match by $10 and I'll spend the extra $6.79 to use my credit!

Although you've entered a valid promo code EMCNJND78, your order does not currently meet the code's usage criteria.

I posted this on the 6th so it was probably just a weekend deal. Sorry.

It's early, yet. Amazon may knock it down or add a promo credit before its release.

Sure hope a promotion comes out for this one. I missed the newegg deal, and MUST be frugal with my limited entertainment dollars

BNZ says:
Why isn't Amazon trying to compete with Newegg yet? I think I'll just preorder from Newegg and if Amazon doesn't lower their price soon, I'll just cancel my preorder here. If they do, then I'll cancel at Newegg.

Your move, Amazon.

Ted Riggs says:
Amazon doesn't lower pre-order prices. They used to order $10 or $20 promotional credit, but they never do that anymore. I'm not paying $10 extra just for Axel. lol

BNZ says:
When I preordered Mortal Kombat, the preorder price started at $59.99 but eventually dropped down to $47.99. That only lasted a day or two, but because I had it preordered, I got the lowest price. Also, they included a $10 promotional credit. I'm hoping they end up doing something similar with Twisted Metal. If not, I do have other options. You hear that, Amazon!?

just canceled my preorder from Amazon and got it from I think the more people that cancel their pre-orders the more likely Amazon will make a move.

Joker says:
if you preorder from Newegg, you don't get Axel, right?

Posted on Jan 21, 2012 8:05:16 AM PST
I am going to have to go with newegg on this one amazon has not had that many good deals on new releases this past 4 months. Maybe we got spoiled with all the credit, but that being said newegg and bestbuy have really picked up the deals as of late and I find myself buying almost no games from amazon. Newegg uses a coupon code so amazon will not match them.

Ted Riggs says:
That's right. Axel is an Amazon exclusive deal, but it'll likely become available in the form of DLC later, and it will cost less than $10.

Joker says:
You got a good point Ted, as much as I want Axel, I can always just buy DLC later. I'm not sure of the details, but can you cancel the preorder from Newegg before it ships with no charge? Just in case Amazon decides to suddenly drop the price

In reply to an earlier post on Jan 21, 2012 8:14:11 AM PST
Ted Riggs says:
Yep. When you're on your main account page, click the Pre-Order Status link on the left, then click the order number and you'll see a "cancel order" button.
