About the Author

In 1991, Phil Vischer sat down to create a group of characters that could teach Christian values to kids in a delightfully weird way.  The result was a tomato named Bob and a cucumber named Larry.  VeggieTales would go on to revolutionize Christian filmmaking, selling more than forty million videos.  Phil is now pursuing ministry opportunities through his new creative company, Jellyfish.  Find out more about Phil and his projects on the web at: www.jellyfishland.com and www.philvischer.com.

From AudioFile

This delightful audiobook is ideal for preschool children. In it, 47 beavers come to life through the imaginative rendition of two narrators. Lovers of VEGGIETALES will enjoy this story of beavers who are lost at sea. Just 15 minutes long, the story is first read by Greg Whalen, who easily captures attention with a dramatic delivery. Then the author reads the same story in a singsong and whimsical tone, creating a different mood. Instrumental music adds a nice touch. Not only will the story entice a children to listen, it will teach them the value of working with others to find solutions to problems. 5.0 out of 5 stars A Delightful Story-Poem for Children of All Ages, February 20, 2007
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
Once again Phil Vischer, creator of VeggieTales, proves that the truth of God's Word addresses life in a captivating and life-transforming way. Using a catchy rhythm in verse, Vischer uses gentle, even delightful, humor to teach the lesson that working together can bring much better success than trying to solve problems alone.

Individuals familiar with the kinds of lessons Vischer and his comrades have taught for well over a decade through his amazing vegetables will not be disappointed by all 47 beavers adrift at sea.

Grandparents need to buy this book so they can share it with their grandkids. Parents need to add this book to their children's library. Churches need to include this book in the resources for their Christian Education hour.

A product of Vischer's new venture, Jellyfish Labs, this book holds a promise for increasingly more exciting and creative offerings to come. The CD included with this book has many super extras.

I cannot recommend this book more highly. I chuckled all the way through the story. And, I found the memorable lines of the poem rebounding the message of the book over and over again.

5.0 out of 5 stars Teaching more than the value of working together!, March 20, 2007
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
Brand new from Phil Vischer, creator of VeggieTales, comes 47 Beavers on the Big, Blue Sea. Illustrated by Jared Chapman, this hardback book is filled with fresh colors and expressive characters. The book is introduced by Ecclesiastes 4:9-10 which state "Two are better than one..." The author states "Forty-seven are even better than two." Beginning with a fellow named Trapper Stu, the story tells of forty-seven beavers who discover working together is best. Readers follow these persistent beavers as they encounter various trials. Being stuck on the big, blue sea without any oars and facing down a hungry shark is just the beginning. How can they overcome their troubles? The author concludes the story with a personal application: "...we've been blessed, and things go best when we all work together!" Included with the book is a CD offering a musical version of the story.

The rhyming is great and introduces new vocabulary in easy-to-learn settings. The illustrations are bright, perfect for preschoolers. I like that the book teaches more than just working together. It does a wondeful job there, but it also teaches perseverance and optimism. Some of the beavers complain, but the leader is always positive and encouraging. My kids love the CD! It's a fun tune, easy to replicate.
