My son and I purchased a UJ4703 from a mall kiosk today. I like how rock-steady the gyro-whirlygig keeps the helicopter. We had a fun few minutes flying it before realizing we didn't charge the battery enough. Looking forward to flying it a lot more tomorrow evening, when we should be able to get maximum climb & forward/backward performance out of it. The remote-control headlight is clever. I think that after a few days we'll be good enough to fly it in the house. We also like the flexibility of charging from the controller or from a USB port.

Potential buyers should be aware of two things:
- The IR control will be very glitchy in sunlight, so the aircraft can only be flown indoors or at dusk.
- The plastic legs of the landing skids are flimsy. I am getting ready to glue the right skid back on the aircraft for the third time today.

I have recently purchased this unit at a Kiosk in a mall on 12/26. Talked the guy down to $35, :), told him that Amazon has them cheaper than the $40 he was offering ;-). Anyway, the fun factor is great, but seeing new models coming out that have rocket launchers makes this one look like no fun. When reading the instructions it said to turn the unit off before charging, but it never charged, unless I turned the unit on, then it charged. I have charged it 3 times so far, no problems with that. I wish the battery could last longer or if there is a way to purchase a bigger battery; that would be nice. Durability wise, I have had no problems. I let my wife try flying it, and she pretty much ran into every hard surface in the house, LOL. Thought the plastic blades would be the first to go since they are the ones that hit everything first, but the plastic is bendable and not a hard plastic. I want to get rid of the flashing leds in the front hoping that may extend battery life a little longer. Also I feel it's safe to fly since I hit my wife with it and it didn't hurt her. I rated it 4 star overall, because eventually the fun will die down since you can only fly it. You can't use it for other purposes unless you have a light weight camera to attach to it. Also, the range of the controller isn't very good about 10 - 15 feet at most, then the chopper drops. I noticed the sunlight as well as bright indoor lights can effect the flying. Just 5 feet away hovering over a chair and the chopper dropped suddenly, as I noticed I was near a lamp. Flying outside is fun, if there is NO wind; any kind of wind will inhibit the choppers ability to fly the direction you want it to go. I would buy another one though, for a friend to have, or even recommend it. I don't know if this model is any different than the Syma's, but it's fun for now, great for parties to see who can land it on a coffee can on top of the fridge!

This is one of several less expensive remote control (infrared) helicopters with the more solid look and feel of some of the more expensive, hobby quality, radio controlled models. It flies nothing like the more authentic controls used in the advanced hobbyist models, and it cant do the same tricks. . but the tradeoff is that it is very easy to fly and enjoy sitting on your couch. My 6 and 8 year old girls are both able to fly this type of helecopter. A word of advice, if you are looking for a helicopter in this $25-$40 price range, be sure to get one with a tail fan like this has. That fan is for forward and backward control. We bought a $20 model in Walgreens that didn't have this fan. Those are basically up, down, left and right while being forced to go forward the whole time. They don't hover. It is controllable but annoying, especially since it is stuck indoors. There are more expensive hobby models with no tail fan that have a different control system which seems better. . . but those super cheap dime-store one's are not like that. You and/or your kid will crash those a lot more than one like this. If you are looking to spend $50-80 on a helicopter, on the other hand, it may be worth looking into something more advanced with a radio control rather than infrared. This allows for outdoor use and it is the starting point for authentic hobby helicopters. The E-flite Blade mCX RTF is a highly rated choice for around $80 on Amazon and it is supposed to be just as easy to control. This type of helicopter is upgradeable, fully repairable, customizable and lasts a long time.

My wife got me this Yiboo helicopter for Christmas from the mall kiosk for $40. My first amateur mistake was thinking it was an indoor/outdoor helicopter. IT IS NOT.
