I find these bulbs to be a bit expensive, but they do cut down on electricity costs. 12 watts vs. 50, 23 vs. 100, 29 vs. 150 - that's 4 to 5 times less current for the same relative brightness.
The bulbs are rated for a six-year life expectancy, but that is based on four hours a day. You will need to adjust the figures based on your usage. For example, if you typically leave the light on for 8 hours a day, you should expect to replace the bulb after about three years. (If the bulb dies after one year with that same usage, you are entitled to a free replacement bulb from G.E. Save the UPC label and your sales receipt.)
Be VERY CAREFUL handling the bulbs. They contain mercury and other hazardous materials. If a bulb should break, do not touch ANY part of the broken bulb with your bare hands. Wear protective gloves and don't breathe in any of the dust. All broken parts should be sealed in plastic. Check your community/city/state regulations for disposal (even if used bulbs are not broken) as these bulbs are considered hazardous waste.

Way too big for ANY lamp. These bulbs are a dissapointment. Hoping they would fit our lamps but they are not designed with that purpose in mind. We are trying to cut back on electricity consumption and go 'green' This is the fault of the manufacturer, not the shipper.
