My four-year-old has been obsessed with this puzzle. The geographical pictures give grownups things to talk about (e.g., "There's the Golden Gate; you've seen that." or "Do you remember where the corn grows?"). Also, the pieces are extremely sturdy & flat so it locks together easily. This reduces the frustration factor.

This puzzle is a great way to introduce your little ones to the good old USA.My granddaughters love to see who can find the states the fastest. You lay out the puzzle, and let your kids learn the states. Even your young childen will soon learn where the state goes, and its name. What a great way for children to learn what they will be required to learn in the 4th and 5th grade.

We got this puzzle for our 3 kids last Christmas. It is big, bright, sturdy and very educational...even for me! Of course the first thing we noticed was the picture of the Twin Towers over New York. (Not sure if they are still making them like that)This is something I will keep forever, and that my kids will continue learning from for years to come.

My son received this puzzle just a few days after his 3rd birthday for Christmas. I was skeptical because I thought it was too advanced for him and that I'd just be running around picking up pieces. But, after just a few days, he could work the entire puzzle all on his own, with little or no assistance from an adult. He could even pick up individual pieces and tell me what state it was. And now, 10 months later, he still loves working this puzzle and he can even read some of the state's names too. And when he watches the national weather on the news he can always tell me what state the weatherman is talking about. Impressive!

I am so glad that I purchased this puzzle for my niece and nephew (ages 3 and 6). They love it! After they put it together, they ask a lot of questions about the states. Then they want to take it apart and do put it back together again! To be honest, I was very suprised that the 3 year old sat down long enough to help put it together (His attention span is short). This puzzle definitely is definitely a must for young kids.
On a side note, a reviewer stated that their puzzle had the Twin Towers in it. I got my puzzle about a month ago and mine has a picture of the Statue of Liberty, so perhaps the one I got was from a newer line.

Good but tricky,

This is a good puzzle for teaching kids about the location of the states. It is not the easiest to put together but my 3 year old managed it with a little help.
Definately a good teaching tool.

Puzzle pieces should be the shape of the states,
This review is from: 48-piece Deluxe United States Map Cardboard Floor Puzzle (Toy)
The puzzle is very sturdy. The pictures on the puzzle on neat. This puzzle is a good educational tool, BUT I think it would be better if the puzzle pieces were in the shape of the states. (I should have been clued in when there are only 48 pieces.) The concept of size comparions and the relationships of the which states are next to each other would be much easier for preschoolers to grasp if the puzzles pieces were state-shaped. We also purchased the Rain Forest floor puzzle and we LOVE it! I'm going to get the Bug Floor puzzle for my son's next birthday. Melissa & Doug toys are great!

I assumed this puzzle had individual state pieces for the puzzle. It does not. Other than that, it is a nice puzzle with a lot of information.

My 5yr old has loved puzzles all of his short life. We saw these floor puzzles and knew that these had to be a part of Christmas morning. After ordering on Thanksgiving a nice size order, only one gift arrived on Dec. 1st. I was taken back since I ordered two puzzles by the same company and now I am only getting one. Sadly our $7.49 puzzle came with a $30 shipping tag. The scam was up. After asking for a refund, our order was suddenly not going to be shipped in time for Christmas. So, these fantastic puzzles that would have made an incredible gift for Christmas Day went ungiven. I am a mother who is somewhat disabled and cannot go out shopping and depend on online shopping. So, I truly was disappointed. The puzzle would have gotten a rated 5, that company shipping it a -5. |
