I chose this lamp to replace a very hot halogen desk lamp. This is as close to an ideal desk lamp that I've ever seen. It is very energy efficient at just 5 watts yet produces plenty of light. The base is heavy to provide stability and the light assembly is easily directed where light is needed. Another great product from Amazon.

I agree that the style, design, stability and looks are all great, but the light is incredibly poor. I had bought it to sit on my craft desk so I could focus in on the detail, but I had to turn the head upside down to see if it was even on. I was replacing an inexpensive similar style lamp because the glass kept falling out, but I have gone back to it anyway because at least it was bright enough to work by. Disappointing - I liked the small base because it didn't take up a lot of my work table. I guess I will put it next to a bed in a guest room - at least it is pretty.

I was having trouble reading text on my copyholder because of poor lighting (as I live in the Colorado Desert, the house windows are tinted because of extremely hot summer temperatures, which does not make for bright interior lighting). However, my computer desk is just a standard size, with two speakers and a monitor on it. So I needed something that wouldn't take up much room, would shine down from overhead on documents, and with a solid heavy base so I would have no problem with it tipping over.
This is the lamp. Besides, with its modern design (amost seems Swedish) in silver, it is very pretty as well. There is a simple on/off switch on the foot of the base, which is egg-shaped. It looms high enough over the copyholder so I can put it in just the position that I want to reflect light (30 small LED lights) down on the text. There is an easily adjustable arm and a swiveling head. And, of course, the stability of the desk lamp is an added safety feature. And it comes fully assembled. No struggling with nuts, screws, bolts, etc. It sure saved the day for me. I no longer struggle to read text in dim light.
