4.0 out of 5 stars Good enough for retail game play March 6, 2012
Edition:4 GB|Amazon Verified Purchase
Fun: 2.0 out of 5 stars
This 4GB card is the minimum required. It's good enough for game saves and game patches if you care to only play games using game cartridges. It can easily hold some apps like Facebook/Netflix and few music albums. I can also download 2-3 game demos. The Content Manager can help move infrequently used data to a PC or PS3 to alleviate space issue if you don't need to have all content available at once.

I initially bought this thinking that's all I need. But after playing some of the games, it became obviously that the games are worthwhile to keep, and many have replay value and therefore best to be downloaded to minimize swapping. Also I really liked to try many games and downloaded plenty of demos. Given the amount of stuff I now want to download from PSN, I opt for the pricey 32GB card.

But your situation may only require this 4GB version then there wouldn't be a reason to spend more money buying bigger capacity.

*UPDATE Nov 2012* I just noticed that PlayStation Plus membership ($50/year) now extends lots of games free for download. It is 18 games in fact, including blockbuster titles such as Uncharted: Golden Abyss, Wipeout 2048 - PS Vita, Gravity Rush, Zen Pinball, etc. If you like many of these games, it's worth paying approximately $4 per month. And by doing so, you'll need more storage and this 4GB will not come close.

4.0 out of 5 stars Meh. Not enough storage for modern man. February 26, 2012
Edition:4 GB
Fun: 3.0 out of 5 stars
Sure it's 4 gigs; that would have made perhaps my father's jaw drop in the 70's but this is the 90's!! This is the age of terabyte storage and flying cars. Well, perhaps not flying cars just yet, but you get the point. The card is great and works well for what it is supposed to do, but I ended up just buying a 32. With full Vita games, demos, game saves, PSP games, music, photos, internet cookies, and pron, there's simply not enough storage on this little guy.

If you're someone like me who likes to have it all, you are going to find yourself constantly deleting things so you can add other things.
This thing is like your backpack in Skyrim. You'll spend more time organizing your inventory and prioritizing what you want to save & delete than actually killing innocent townsfolk. 4 stars because it's good for what it is but just not enough for what I use the system for.

Also, where is my flying car?

Updated 2/13/13: My entire review is not visible unless you look at this in comment form, I apologize for the inconvenience. I also apologize for the massive length of this post, however appreciate everyone's support.

Please show your support and get this review to default onto everyone's list when they open this page, by saying this review is helpful.

If you plan on using your Playstation Vita for game saves ONLY, then this is what the 4GB card is for. But let's face it, there will be people that want to revisit their PSP library, there will be people taking pictures, or putting their music on their vita to listen to with some games. For $18-20 bucks it's affordable, but it's the worst storage to price ratio, as expected.

But, let's look at the size of the Vita games and media currently available.

%Alien Breed: 123MB
AR Play 2012 Holiday Bundle: 1.13GB
Army Corps of Hell: 625 MB
Asphalt: Injection: 765 MB(Demo is the same size)
Assassins Creed III Liberation: 2.6GB(Version 1.02 of physical media takes 30MB)
Ben 10 Galactic Racing: 968 MB
!Bentley's Hackpack: 785MB
Big Sky Infinity PSVita: 329MB
BlazBlue: Continuum Shift EXTEND: 3.33GB(Good luck fitting this game on a 4GB card, and be able to do anything else, Version 1.00 of physical media takes 2912KB)
Burn the Rope: 31.4MB
Call of Duty: Black Ops - Declassified: 2.5GB(Version 1.02 of physical media takes 376MB)
@Chronovolt: 262MB
Disgaea 3: Absence of Detention: 2.05GB(Version 1.00 of physical media takes 4896KB)
DJMAX Technika Tune: 3.1GB
Doctor Who The Eternity Clock: 767MB
Dokuro: 310MB
Dungeon Hunter Alliance: 1.03GB(Cross Platform play with PS3 is not supported, Version 1.

3.0 out of 5 stars Allows you to start using Vita but that is about it February 24, 2012
Edition:4 GB|Amazon Verified Purchase
I received my Vita on Wednesday and yesterday (Friday) the 4GB card was already full. I have the following retail games: Uncharted, Lumines, and Rayman. I purchased Mutant Blobs (awesome game), Super Stardust, Netflix which fit on the card. I am not able to add anything else to the card. I'm sure I can still save games and everything but 4GB seems kind of useless to me. I gave it 3 stars because it at least allowed me to start using the system while I wait for my larger card. Obviously using it for 2 days did not allow me to get $20 of value out of it. I hope this helps others!

3.0 out of 5 stars Just okay. December 9, 2012
Edition:4 GB|Amazon Verified Purchase
As every other Vita owner sadly becomes aware of soon after purchasing the device, the memory is just flat out too expensive for what you get. I got this during black friday to support multiple foreign PSN accounts, and even with the considerable discount, it simply does not feel like I am getting what I am paying for. 3/5 in place of 2/5 for what I payed. It's really a shame that Sony decided that proprietary memory was the best for the Vita, and that a 32GB card costs almost half of the cost of the Vita depending on when/where you buy. Sony, I am disappoint.

2.0 out of 5 stars It works, but can't hold worth a damn.
It holds 2-3 games tops then you get annoyed and think, "well I guess I have to buy a bigger card." With flash prices these days, it should be relatively cheap right? Read more

32GB card
It really is odd that they have not added these for preorder. The prices have already been announced, and they are on amazon uk etc. for preorder, and have been for months.

How many game saves on a 4GB card?
My personal opinion is that the 8G is the way to go since it's only $10 more and you're doubling your space. Games are usually under 2G with some exceptions like Uncharted so you can easily fit 2-4 games on there and still have room for your game saves.

As for the 4G card... well... Uncharted... Read more

A 4GB Card Is Enough for Most Gamers
Let me correct you where I think you're wrong. I do realize the thread is outdated but oh well.

I feel as though the 4GB is enough if you decide to get only physical copies of the games because your memory card will only hold the save data, not the whole game *and* save data. The problem with... Read more
