Product Description

Parents don't vibrate like bouncy seats or swing like swings. They bounce and sway, and that's what the mamaRoo does: it moves like you do. The 4moms team used motion sensors to measure the movements of reals moms and dads as they soothed their babies, and replicated those motions in the mamaRoo. It's the only infant seat with five different motions, all modeled after the natural movements parents make to comfort their babies. It isn't just another infant seat. The mamaRoo plush is the same great mamaRoo with a softer, plush seat fabric that's even more comfortable for your baby. Just like the classic, the plush seat is machine washable and easy to zip in and out of your mamaRoo. Five unique motions based on real parental movements Five speeds (now faster!) Built-in nature sounds and an MP3 hookup Three reversible toy balls Fabric (both plush and classic) is easy to remove and machine washable Seat reclines to any position Detects obstructions Suitable from birth to 25 pounds Discontinue use once child can sit up unassisted Product weighs 14 pounds. LWH: 22.3" x 8.6" x 26.5" No batteries - just plug it in One year warranty

The mamaroo is so soothing, it puts her to sleep.
She is tall and is beginning to slide out of the seat when it is even semi-upright (she doesn't like to be flat on her back anymore).
The only cons are that the motor is just a tad loud and the speakers could be a tad better.

We haven't had this very long, so I intend on coming back to update this review in the future, but wanted to share how much we initially love this. Our 6 week old wouldn't tolerate the swing one bit, has reflux, and is generally super fussy. We put her in this thing AWAKE and she sat there, smiling, while I got stuff done around the house. She would have NEVER done that with the swing. The mamaroo is so soothing, it puts her to sleep. I wear her a lot and love it, but sometimes I need a break or time to help my 2 year old and this thing is awesome. So far, it's worth every penny.

We were skeptical about buying this because our daughter likes to be rocked pretty vigorously, and so many reviews said it's too slow. While it isn't super fast or super rocky, I think the motion is just perfect. Obviously we've had moments where she's upset and this isn't a magic fix - sometimes, babies just want to be held. But I would absolutely recommend the mamaroo.

UPDATE: Our now 4 month old still loves this! It got us through a couple months of colic and she's happily sitting in it right now, awake, just chewing on her toy. We recommend this thing to all our friends and are still super pleased we spent the money!

I am not going to preach to you all about how great this was for us, it was not. However I am also not going to discredit very great work and design. We had this for about 3 weeks, we were able to fully test and review the product.

Note: I picked one up after seeing an unboxed demo at Babies R Us, previous to that there was no way I was going to spend that much on a bouncer/swing. However the demo I saw pretty much sold me.

Anyhow, cut to the chase here..

- Great design: Pretty self explanatory!
- Low foot print: Does not take up a lot of space
- Powered, no batteries needed.
- 5 Motions with speed settings : Changes things up.
- Adjustable : We loved how it can adjust for laying or sitting.
- Plush : It is a plus and it will cost you a whole $40 more but nice and easy to wash.
- Mobile : There might not be much to it but is it effective!
- Great sound/volume: Built in nature sounds & added ability to use anything with a headphone connection (ipod/iphone/mp3 player/so forth)
- Lightweight : Can be moved around very easily, does not weigh a lot.
- Packs away: Easily packs up for storage or even road trips (box is bulky but hey better than most swings/bouncers)

- Slow: Yes, it was a slow even on the highest setting. To me it needs to offer more ability in this area because this is what makes a bouncer "a bouncer" the motion and speed! All babies are different and ours loves a lot of motion, which is why this really was not good enough for us and especially for the price. Regardless of that, the speed options really falls short. More options would probably make this shine more.

- Loud: The motor after about 1 week did start to get a bit loud.

When I was pregnant I made a decision that I did not have my baby get used to falling asleep by swinging left and right or become a lap-addict. Hahahaahhha LMAO as now it sounds so funny to me. So I started looking for a product that would support my thoughts without knowing how much I would use it in the future.
I am interior designer so for me the design of the product played a big role to choose this product before knowing the use of it. this is not a traditional swing that swings left and right only. It imitates what a parent would do to be able to put a baby to sleep. After my baby was born, we brought him home for the first time and put him in this egg shaped, mother's belly shaped, product . It served as a cool picture setup. We immediately stated using this product as our baby preferred sleeping on mamaroo more than his bassinette/cod. We did not understand why he preferred mamaroo over his crib& bassinette but who cares as long as your baby is happy and sleeping, right! Soon enough we understood why. If you are one of those moms whose baby is diagnosed with GERD, you are going to be more sleep deprived than other moms. I was one of them and I am saying , you do not want this product You need this product, and hopefully your baby would like this product as mine did. When you are sleep deprived and trying to understand what is wrong with your baby who is not sleeping or waking up with a sharp cry when put to sleep on his back in his basinet : Trust me this product will be your arms, minds and heart's savior. My baby has acid reflux( (GERD). He has spent many nights on this swing, and he still takes all his naps on mamaroo. The elevated head inclined position is great.

We used the Mamaroo for our son and then sold it before we got our second baby girl. She has the SnugaBunny Fischer Price Swing so I'll compare the two.

Way more compliments from guests - wishing there was an adult sized one.
Smaller footprint
Can play your ipod/iphone just by plugging it in.
Offers several more swing settings (wave, kangaroo, etc.) which swings your baby forward, backward or side to side in different patterns.
Offers more flexibility in the recline (sliding scale)
Removable and washable mobile with two color modes, black and white and color
Only lasted up to 4.5 months before my son started sliding out/feet hanging over too much

Fischer Price Snugabunny:
Larger footprint
Can have baby face forward or face sideways to change the swing (forward and back versus side to side)
Has a nice loud music setting and a faster swing setting than the Mamaroo
Takes more effort to set up (but not unbearable)
Lasted my baby girl up to 8 months.
