Well...
Over the years I've had an assortment of different types of lights. I won't name the mundane ones that couldn't even begin to compare with this one. But as for the ones...somewhat...in the class of this light, such as Surefire, Fenix, Streamlight...etc...This is hands down the best. It is in the price range of the base model Surefires, but noticeably out performs it in pretty much every way. I havn't had time to torture test it, but I feel confident it will hold up well...it seems to be built as well if not better than the Surefires and Streamlight weapon lights I use.

The best thing...it runs on AA batteries. So bad ass. It makes for an incredibly light weight device. You can clip it in your pocket and not even realize it's there. It will for sure save heaps of money...and in a pinch, AA batteries are very easy to find. It's roughly the same size as the AA mag-lite, but the light output is astoundingly brighter...night and day. The modes on it are easy to program...and it allows a VERY easy toggle between any two of the output modes that you prefer.

If you're comparing different lights, as you are unsure as to which light you want...etc...etc...go with this one, you will not regret it. Or maybe you will...but I doubt it. I'm an INCREDIBLY picky buyer when it comes to these types of devices...and I have zero negative things to say about it.

Love 47's lights--I have 6 or 7 of them now. The build quality, form and function, and their customer service are all superior!

I wound up returning this light and getting the non-tactical version--here's why. While I understand the need for the tactical interface (wanting to KNOW exactly what mode the light is going to activate in when you push the tailcap), I find it very limiting in that you can only choose 2 program modes and to use all the other modes you not only have to reprogram the light to switch to different modes, but then you have to reprogram it all over again to go back to your 2 main modes. The tactical interface would be GREAT if there was a "tactical override" ability--i.e. press and hold the tailcap for 10 seconds which would switch it to "normal mode" where you could toggle through all the other modes with the tailcap, and then it would revert back to tactical mode after it was turned off. I find that I use high, moon, strobe, and medium quite frequently, and having to reprogram the light every time just doesn't cut it for me......

This light gives me everything that I want in a flashlight for its size - it's rugged, very bright, and the numerous modes make for a very versatile light. For the money i cannot imagine finding a better light.

I got the light yesterday and was very impressed with the packaging and all the accessories it came with and the fact that it ran on 2 AA batteries. I got it out and put the batteries in and turned it on. I have never had a flashlight that you had to program the different settings so it took me a while to figure it out, once I was able to finally cycle through the different settings I was impressed with the turbo or max output for 2 AA batteries. Today I got it out to play with it a little more and I couldnt get it to come on. The light was exactly how I pulled it out of the package and it would not turn on. So I did a little research on line and found some videos. In one of the videos the guy said you could swap the head of the light to the opposite end depending on your preference. So I swapped it to the opposite end in which the light came and to my surprise it came on. But I could not get the light off of the low/medium setting. So I tried the whole twisting the end 1/2 turn 4 times like the instructions said and I got nothing. I looked it up on youtube and it said to twist the end rapidly to program the light, I still got no results. I took apart the flashlight again and put it back together the way it came in the package and it still would not turn on. I guess I got a bad light because no one else has seem to have this problem.

This is a very well built quality light. Very bright max setting plus programable for other settings. I really like that you have two levels programed and have those levels instantly available, without having to cycle through all the other levels to get to the one you want. The programing is really not that hard once you do it a couple times it is pretty easy to change if you want to. So far I prefer low (4 lumens @ 5 day runtime) and Max (205 lumens @ 1.3 hours) for my two settings. I would have probably preferred a case design with a sight hexagon on part of the head as to keep if from rolling if you remove the clip. But that also would have made it bulkier. Overall a very nice light and highly recommended. I now have 3 Quark lights, all are top notch quality.

Pros:
Quality is very good
User interface and programability. (check out diff UI's from quark and other brands and make sure you get what you want)
Brightness for the size.
Runs on AA's (huge deal for me after owning a cr123 light)
Compatible with different heads and tail caps (see Quarks web page)
Forward clicky tail switch (you can partially depress button and have the light come one momentarily)

Cons:
keep in mind these are for me, they might actually be a pro for you. Just simply things I might change is I was designing the light. But some might also add to the cost so theres that. :)

No lockout for on/off switch (which means the only way to make sure your light will not come on in your bag is to have it in a case that would prevent that or take a battery out) I realize this as a "tactical" light is probably the way it should be, you do not want to be in an emergency situation and need the light and have to fumble with unlocking the tail-cap to get it to come on.
