This review is from: 4Wheeler's Guide Trails of the Tahoe National Forest (Spiral-bound)
This spiral bound trail guide is a good size, uses the National Forest Service maps as a baseline and contains a number of excellent trail suggestions. However, since the time of the book's writing many of the trails have been changes or re-routed. Use this guide as an inspiration and a checklist but do not expect an accurate turn by turn guide to each trail. It has this information but you will find that some of the turns are gone and some of the roads / places it uses as landmarks have been removed / erased or forgotten by the locals. Using this book I have had a great time. I have also gotten horribly lost. Thankfully most of the people in this area are very friendly to off-road adventures. Special thanks to "Mike" in the red jeep for getting me out of that valley. I'd never have found that road =) |
