5.0 out of 5 stars Short and Sweet April 15, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Amazon Verified Purchase
Kate Danley's short story "5:00 Breakout" is a humorous look at that time at the end of the day when you just can't stand being at work for one second longer and will do anything to escape. Two coworkers join forces to "breakout" early by sneaking past an overly-vigilant workaholic whose greatest pleasure in life seems to be enforcing every rule in the company---no matter how stupid it may be.

Ms. Danley keeps a great pace throughout. Her sharp sarcasm cracked me up more than once and the way she turned a normal, everyday office scenario into the equivalent of a P.O.W. escape adventure had me smiling the whole time. The last line of the story is a kicker.

Overall a fun, quick read to help get you through the long day, especially if you find yourself constantly watching the clock like the unfortunate characters in this tale.

Every cube farmer, past and present, should read this! Danley portrays people we've all worked with, at one time or another, so accurately that you'll see current and former coworkers as you read it!
