Great product. But as it was my first experience with their slipstick system, I didn't know it wouldn't fit on the side of my Rush Packs. (The slipsticks are not adjustable left or right, therefore the slipsticks are four rungs apart, the side of the Rush packs being only three wide.) Not the biggest deal, but as I own two of the Rush bags, I am a little disappointed that they won't side mount with their own slipstick systems.

Great pouch, great price. Sturdy in every way, just like the rest of their products.

You will have to have a 3rd party mount system if you want to side mount them to a 5.11 Rush pack.

Update: This will fit on the side of Rush 72 bags, since the rung system is 4 wide. I wrote this review before the Rush 72 was created or released by 5.11.

the build quality of the pouch is great, rather thinner than I expected but that is beyond the point, the 5.11 attachment system, SlickStick I think they call it, is similar to regular MOLLE straps but instead of having a bit of fabric attaching the semi-rigid part of the strap to the bag it has a plastic ring that allows the strap to slide up vertically for easy removal, does not help much for attachment but for removal one simply must unsnap the button and pull the strap up an it is off. they offset the female button snap on the strap so it does not catch on the loops.
but it costs a bit much and it is not quite as deep as I would like, great pouch though

The other reviews are correct that this pouch is 4 MOLLE strips wide and the side of the Rush 24 tactical backpack is only 3 MOLLE strips wide. However, this pouch CAN be mounted securely on the side of the Rush 24 pack. I have one on each side of mine. I prefer the Speed Clips over 5.11's "slick stick" system. I attached these pouches to my Rush 24 backpack with Speed Clips across the 3 MOLLE strips on the side of the Rush 24. To make this attachment easier I removed one of the slick stick attachments on the pouch.

The pouches themselves are very well made and a great size, though a little pricey. For me, placing one on each side of the Rush 24 tactical backpack bridges the gap between the Rush 24 pack, which is a little small for my needs, and the larger Rush 72, which is larger than I need. Of course, the added advantage of attaching these pouches to the side of the Rush 24 is that if you don't need their extra room, you can easily disconnect the Speed Clips and remove them, and later, quickly put them back on when you need the extra room again. Placing these pouches on each side of the Rush 24 pack makes it a little wider but not ungainly or difficult to manage.

This pouch is roomy, high quality, and versitile. Highly recommended.

A Special Discount Period from the Manufacturer:
During February of the last 3 years, 5.11 has offered a 20% discount on all packs and pouches which I engorged on this year with an additional stackable 20% discount with the coupon code "thanks20". As a result, I got these packs for a substantially lower price than may be available to you (64% of retail price), so my cost to benefit evaluations may be somewhat different from what you experience purchasing these items.

Uses:
These extensions DO fit on the side of a Rush 72 pack with room for more contrary to what the most helpful review has said (It does require 4 webs to use the Slickstrips). I will post a picture of 2 6x6 pouches fitting to show the attachment capacity (around 6 inches wide, 14 inches tall). It will not fit on the side of of my MOAB 10(purchased for 64 dollars on sale), but there is area to turn the back of the pack into a 13.5 liter pack with the addition of this pouch. That increased space is a big difference maker for long day trips where I don't want to pack my Rush 72 along with all my gear I won't be using.

Utility:
But the biggest reason I purchased these pouches is for creating internal compartments which can then be moved to the outside of the pack when the interior requires overflow space. I am travelling to Japan in a few months and I intend to bring back a lot of souvenirs. The 6.10 bags fit perfectly in the main pack compartment of my Rush 72 lengthwise.

My only gripe is that there is no internal organization pockets for these pouches which is what 5.11 is exceptionally good at doing.

To me the bag is nothing fancy but does seem to be up to par with the 5.11 build quality. Two things that I didn't care for... 1) sandstone picture looks nothing like what I got. The bag is a different color than the straps which I can't see in the picture but in person you can't miss. 2) The price, $30 really? I have the Rush 72 bag and this fits nicely on the side with no problem so bought one for each side... $60 which is nuts. This product to me really needs to be around $15-17 at most... it's a simple bag with no pockets, dividers, nothing but an empty bag.

I love pouches. I have a basic B.O.B with external pouches that help me separate my items by specialty (medic, food, etc). I've been very pleased with the quality of 5.11 pouches. The quality is really dependable making me a customer for about 4 years now. Haven't yet been steered wrong as far as their pouches go. Great buy.
