5.0 out of 5 stars Garage Days Re-revisited EP, April 14, 2005
By cdwillis (Washington, Indiana USA) - See all my reviews
This EP is killer. This is better than Garage Inc. even if these songs are on it. Metallica really makes these covers their own. Much better than the sad covers of Garage Inc.

5.0 out of 5 stars short and sweet- lars review, June 2, 2006
I bought this album in 86? I was around ten years old. This album was my first introduction to Metallica. As soon as "Helpless" kicks in- with lars' aggressive tom tom fills- i was hooked! and that's only 8 bars! Incidentially, it is because of listening to THIS album that I started to play the drums. I would like to add that Lars drumming here is probably his finest compared to the other metallica albums that came after- with the exception of "and justice for all.." so if u wanna rock with intensity! tuck your earpieces in your ear holes and crank it Up!

5.0 out of 5 stars Metallica at their best..., June 27, 2008
By Shroom (Ohio) - See all my reviews
I had this cassette back in the mid-80's and cherished it. No commerical song and guitar hooks like their 90's stuff, nor glossy production, or imagey photo ops. Just great heavy rock music, which Metallica were masters of throughout the 80's. I completely lost interest in Metallica after "And Justice For All," and that album was the beginning of the end. But it's great that you can still find this great Garage Days EP, without the cheesey covers such as "Tuesday's Gone," and even the cover of Sabbath's Caddabra is bad on the later, re-configured release with the newer cover songs.

Stick to this original collection of Garage Days EP songs and you can't go wrong, they are all excellent, right up there as a whole, with their first three albums. Highlights being "The Wait," "Last Caress/Green Hell," "Helpless," and "Crash Course In Brain Surgery." Buy the original vinyl here if you can, since the ability to buy it on any other format seems to have been discontinued. I also had the poster in my bedroom for several years, of this EP's cover, back in the late 80's and early 90's. I'm a little surprised by the lack of concern by all the hard core Metallica fans (which I'm not) that haven't clamored for copies if this EP, to be more available or released in it's original form again.
